  1. Well, I finally closed the deal today for a Chevy buyback on my 2022 Silverado 1500 with the trailer brake controller problem. Chevy was never able to fix it, so I went through with the buyback process. I found the trailer brake issue in late August 2022, went to the dealership the first time in September 2022, and only just now closed the buyback today. Frustrating to say the least. I do have airbags, wireless one air compressor, and a brand new Leer mid-rise canopy (short bed, white) here in Utah for any of you keeping your trucks!
  2. I've been going through the process to qualify for a buyback via the "lemon" laws in Utah due to the faulty trailer brake controller. A GM field service engineer was dispatched to look at my truck a couple weeks ago to no avail. That was the fourth attempt at repairing the issue, thus qualifying me for a buyback according to Utah law. Funny enough, as soon as GM got wind that I was pursuing arbitration via the BBB, they called me the following day saying they magically have a fix. When pressed, however, they called back and asked me what I want to do, and they are now coming up with a buyback offer. I have no idea what to believe from GM. If they really have a fix, I'm the only one who's been told about it at this point, apparently (at least I haven't read about a fix anywhere else). I have my doubts since GM said they'd put together a buyback offer the day after telling me there's a fix. I'm not willing to go the 3rd party/aftermarket route with the trailer brake controller.
  3. I've had a few conversations with GM, but no resolution. I have not heard anything from the BBB, and I filed my claim on October 27th.
  4. After submitting my BBB claim, GM contacted me. They offered me the same "fly an engineer out to my dealership to look at the issue". I spoke to the BBB after GM made the offer and BBB said that will pause my case for as long as GM takes to work on the truck. GM had no idea how long it would take the engineer to potentially fix the issue. When pressed, the GM representative said they have no known fix, and in fact, they believe it's an issue with an OEM component that is unavailable currently due to the standard "supply chain issues". So instead of letting GM play guinea pig with my truck, I declined so that my BBB claim can move forward.
  5. I too am having this problem. I purchased my truck in August specifically to tow. Had the issue and bought it in to my dealer right around the 9/27 release of the PIT5948A bulletin, although the dealer wasn't aware of it at the time. Dealer said everything works on their simulator (of course). I brought the truck home and completely rewired my travel trailer brake system, and replaced the brakes and hubs. Still had the issue. On my second trip in to the dealer they found the bulletin and had no answers for me. I talked to my dealers service manager and he said to start a lemon law buyback, I must talk to GM. He stated GM has no known cause for this (which is what the bulletin says) and that there is no ETA for a fix. I have called GM and they took my information, but they couldn't even find the PIT5948A bulletin. The only resolution GM would give me was to send me to the Better Business Bureau. The GM person I talked to said to go to this website to fill out my claim: https://bbbprograms.org/programs/all-programs/bbb-autoline I'm pursuing the lemon law. I've had this truck for 3 months now and have only driven it to test the brakes with each troubleshooting step. I'm sure I'll have to eat my additions I've put into the truck (nice new Leer canopy, airbags and compressor), but it's better than having a $60k paperweight taking up space in the driveway.
