I have a 2004 ext cab silverado z71 4x4 auto. The dead battery and different language and changing of 4x4 status is all instrument panel related. Circuit Board Medics is your best bet just google them. Thats how i fixed mine. Almost everything in the cab has its power/info go through that instrument panel cluster. It can even cause your abs motor to run when the truck has no key in it. Hvac control modules and actuators are known to go bad on these as well mine is currently stuck on defrost however its not as important right now as other things im working on. Amazon has all these parts for pretty cheap possibly hit miss on getting good ones.
