Problem:
Not a single things wrong with the truck until the alternator started going out. I replaced the alternator, and the positive lead from the back of the alternator arc'd for a second when I disconnected it. I continued with the repair, replaced the alternator, buttoned everything back up, and now there is no power to half of the truck.
Items that I have checked:
1. Drivers side fuse panel, interior of truck - all fuses appear good, all fuses pass multimeter continuity check
2. Passenger side fuse panel, interior of truck - all fuses appear good, all fuses pass multimeter continuity check
3. Drivers side fuse panel, engine bay - all fuses appear good, all fuses pass multimeter continuity check
4. Passenger side battery mounted fuse "panel", engine bay - all fuses appear good, all fuses pass multimeter continuity check
Symptoms:
1. No dash lights when ignition key is turned on
2. No radio
3. No horn - either manually pressed or when locking with key fob
4. Driver side headlight/parking light works, passenger side headlight/parking light does not
5. Passenger side tail light/parking light works, driver side tail light/parking light does not
6. Turning key to attempt start - no dash lights at all. get only one click, but not several clicks like a dead battery
7. Have tried jumping battery - no difference, still no power or start
8. Replaced battery with new battery - no difference, still no power or start
9. Have turned ignition key, shifted into neutral, attempt to start from neutral - no difference at all.
10. Ground cables seem fine
Are there any more fuse panels in this truck that I am overlooking? Are there any commonly overlooked relays or other items that burn up when this alternator cable arcs?
If the alternator cable arc'd, this *should* blow a fuse - or at least this should be on a fused circuit, correct?
Any ideas on where I should start troubleshooting? I have looked at everything that I thought it might be.
