  1. Exactly the same problem [And Solution ] I had on my 19' GMC Elevation. GM has no solution to this problem short of changing the entire assembly. Pretty sad when a $10 part would cost you $400 +- through GM to get fixed.
  2. Follow the instructions above on how to remove the steering column. Then cut the 2 wires going to the switch and splice them back together. Essentially you've eliminated the switch.
  3. Cut the wires to the switch and splice them back together.
  4. Had the same problem on my 2019 GMC Elevation. I cut the wires to the switch under the steering column and spliced them back together basically eliminating the switch all together. Haven't had the message return since I did this. GM won't acknowledge the problem. It should be a recall.
  5. I'm having the same Shift to Park message with my 2019 GMC Sierra. Can I cut the 2 wires from the micro switch and splice them together to bypass the switch?
  6. My 2019 GMC Sierra is experiencing the exact same issues. I'm going to inspect my hood latch and must likely order a new one. Thank you for your detailed encounter. Sounds like the exact same problem in having.
