    Very telling that you have not received any comments. I don’t think that those who trash these engines online want to admit it’s maintenance and modifications that cause the failure. No doubt bad parts exist, but there has to be more to it than “junk” design.

    How is it that there are so many posts on this topic from people who have a theory, say they will post with results, and never do. AFM/DFM/VVT and torque converter issues abound. No followthrough on these ideas is very disheartening.

    Pretty much level Michigan I75, 65mph. I just got my truck back from the dealer. Estimate to replace TBV, trans filter, and fluid flush & fill. Ready for it? Drum roll please… $2285! I passed.

    My trans hits 240F towing. I’m still in Powertrain warranty on my 2020 5.3 8-speed Silverado at 43000 miles. Does anyone know if the thermostat is covered by Powertrain Warranty? It is external, but bolted to trans case. I know cooler and lines are not covered.

    Agreed. Well, if it’s a huge problem, the dealers should be familiar with every variation on the subject. Taking mine in tomorrow for trans temp issue. If they play dumb, I’ll go elsewhere.

    My new to me 2020 8-speed trans routinely runs 172-180F. Towing 3500# camper, temp surged to 240F, then settled down to 180F in about fifteen minutes. 43000 miles. I know about TBV change to 70F update. Taking to dealer tomorrow, want to be informed as I can be.

    Are AFM/DFM and torque converter failures as prevalent as the Facebook posts indicate? Real, or just squeaky wheels squeaking?

    202 Silverado 1500 5.3, 8-speed. I get a vibration at 30mph while decelerating. Does not do it in neutral. Feels like DFM is causing it. Not TCC Shudder as I understand it. Taking to dealer tomorrow for this problem as well as hot trans while towing (240+ F). Have seen the TSB regarding Cam Actuator Magnet, but would like to make any other suggestions to service desk tomorrow. Thoughts?
