2019 Suburban with right around 100,000 miles. Had tires rotated April 2023. After rotation it threw a Stabilitrak code saying steering assist reduced, drive with care. The only thing we noticed that didn’t work was cruise control, which is a nuisance. Took it back to the shop that rotated the tires and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong. Code reader said steering wheel position sensor needed replaced. We did not have it fixed, just dealt with not being able to use cruise control. Rotated tires again in December 2023 and the issue went away. No issues for 3-4 months, during which we did a 6,000 mile road trip without issue. No issues until today March 13, 2024 when tires got rotated again. Same warnings and code as last year came back.
Every time we start the Suburban the code resets itself within about 30 seconds. Then within about 5 minutes of driving it comes back on.
Anyone else have this issue?
Shop says replacing the steering wheel position sensor will be $550 plus tax. Don’t want to spend the money if it won’t fix the issue.
