I'm ordering a 2500HD LT with the 18" wheels that come in the sport package. The OEM tires are 275/70-18 so 33.2" diameter, 10.8" width.
From what I can tell, GM has chosen tires that simply do not fit the aesthetic of the truck. The OEM tires basically have no side cleat at all -- they look like all-season car tires. Plus the 20" wheel variant of the truck comes with 275/65-20 so 34.1" diameter. I don't want 20" wheels but I would like the tires to be larger and look more like an actual truck.
I'm considering moving to either
285/70-18 which is 33.7" diameter and increases width to 11.2"
295/70-18 which is 34.3" diameter and increases width to 11.6"
I don't think the 285's would be problematic (does anyone disagree?). And while the 295's height is very close to the OEM 20", I'm concerned the extra ~1" of width causing issues without a lift which I don't want to do. The 2500 ZR2 package actually comes with 305/70-18s on the same wheels, but it has a minor lift, so I don't think I can compare apples to apples for rubbing etc.
Appreciate any thoughts.
