  1. Is it possible to set up tire pressure monitoring of my trailer in my truck if I don't have the Advanced Trailering Package? The only towing features my 2024 Silverado 2500 has on the window sticker are: - TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER - TRAILERING WIRING PROVISIONS If I buy the Chevy OEM TPMS sensors and put them on my trailer's tires, will they communicate with my truck? Or would I need to have the Advanced Trailering Package installed as a dealer option?
  2. Thanks. That explains why I wasn't seeing any aftermarket options. I'll live with the 36-gallon and maybe get a 6-gallon portable as you mentioned.
  3. They did! Sold me a NEW 2024 for only a little more than the pre-owned 2024 I bought with the transmission issue. All's well that ends well!
  4. Well, in my case, the noise was not normal. The service department called yesterday and said it's a major problem with the transmission. Apparently, there's a service bulletin out about it. Service has to open a claim and call GM next week, and GM will walk them through exactly what needs to be done. I bought this as a pre-owned 2024 vehicle with 11k miles last Saturday. The truck had this issue when it was delivered to me, so they obviously missed it during the pre-sale inspection. It also had two recall services that hadn't been performed. The silver lining is the dealership may give me a new 2024 truck with similar specs for about the same price, because they know they messed up.
  5. Oops, you're right. The max tongue weight is 1,600 lbs.
  6. I was hoping I'd hear that. I got an HD truck in part because I didn't want to worry about payload and weight distribution as much. (I also had a 1/2-ton before getting the 3/4.)
  7. We just bought a 25' Airstream with 6,300 dry weight and 7,600 GVWR, with a tongue weight of approximately 950 lbs when loaded for camping. Will be towing it with a 2024 6.6L gasser with the following specs: GVWR 10,850 lbs RGAWR 6,600 lbs Payload 3,524 lbs Max tongue weight 2,760 My family, the dogs, and typical cargo in the truck = 600 lbs. Add that to the tongue weight of the trailer = ~1,600 lbs. Gives us 2,000 lbs of payload capacity to spare. Given these numbers, seems I should have no trouble towing this trailer without a WD hitch. I do plan to go to the scales on our first trip to check the weights. I will also measure the distance between the ground and the top of the front wheel well before and after the trailer is on the hitch, and see if there's any difference. Even if the weight is distributed properly, I still might benefit from sway control. But I've read that the Silverado 2500 has some built-in sway control, and they don't recommend using third-party systems. Is that accurate? What do you think?
  8. Hi all, I just bought a 2024 Silverado 2500 6.6 Allison gas with 11,000 miles. It's making a high-pitched whining sound at lower RPMs when accelerating/decelerating. It's hard to explain, but my wife and friend immediately noticed when they got in the truck. Hard to say if it's the same noise the OP had—I know in my case, the sound is way less clear on the recording than it is in person. You can listen to mine here (it's most noticeable between 3-5 seconds). Also, I went to the Chevy dealership yesterday and drove both a 2500 and 3500 with the Allison gas transmission. Neither sounded like my truck. They were both relatively quiet (for 3/4 and 1-ton trucks, at least) and smooth. This tells me the sound is not normal. It's so loud and irritating that I would not keep this truck if they can't fix it. OP: did you ever figure out the source of the sound? Was the dealer able to diagnose and fix it?
  9. Thanks, Buck. It's hard to tell with the recordings. I'd say mine sounds different (more noticeable), but I can't be sure. What I can say is that I went to a Chevy dealer yesterday and drove both a 2500 and 3500 with the gas Allison transmission. Neither sounded like my truck. They were both relatively quiet (for 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, at least) and smooth. This tells me it's not normal.
  10. Hi all, I just bought a 2024 Silverado 2500 6.6 Allison gas with 11,000 miles. It's making a strange, high-pitched whining sound at lower RPMs when accelerating/decelerating. It's hard to explain, but my wife and my friend immediately noticed it when they got in the truck. I made an audio recording, which you can listen to here. Unfortunately, the sound is way less clear on the recording than it is in person, but you can hear it, especially between 3-5 seconds. I'm going to take it in to the dealer, of course, but I thought I'd post here to see if anyone has ideas of what might be causing it. Thanks.
  11. Hi all, I just bought a 2024 6.6 gas 2500 HD. This is my first Chevy truck. I'm coming from a 2022 Ram Rebel 1500, upgrading because I need more tow capacity and payload. I'm wondering if it's possible to get a larger fuel tank for this vehicle? I've seen a bunch of aftermarket options for the diesel, but am having trouble finding one for the gas version. Thanks!
