I have a 2020 Sierra with the electronic latch. Can I switch that out and put a regular latch in.

I just recently purchased a 2020 gmc Sierra. It has the electronic tailgate and on some occasions I have to push it twice to open. On the tailgate itself when I push the button it clicks as if it is releasing but doesn’t ( not even if I pull on it) when I push it agin it opens. On the key fob I double click it then have to do it again for it to open. Is this normal?
