  1. Took some leg work, but I guess they want to keep my business.
  2. Guys, thank you so much for the help! Dealer called back and is willing to participate $7,000 towards lifter and cam shaft replacement. Basically complete engine rebuild. Our cost will be 5k. These replacement parts will be covered by a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty.
  3. I appreciate it. I got another quote locally for a remanufactured engine + labor with a 3 year 100k mile warranty for 9k flat with a $500 rebate. Very reputable business in my area and they do good work.
  4. So, the rate is $225 which isn’t terrible but they are clocking it for 40 hrs. Thats why I am hoping GMs PET program will help alleviate some or most of the cost. I like the truck, but not enough to through 12 - 18k. Might as well sell the truck at point.
  5. You’re exactly right. I have an offer for 25k if there assistance comes back with 0%. I also have a quote for 8k from an actual engine shop ~1 hour away that is willing to rebuild and delete the AFM and convert it back to DFM. Since it sounds like thats a majority of these issues.
  6. The dealer is running a claim through GM as a part of their Policy Evaluation Tool, as we speak. The service manager was on the other end telling me it would be 24 Hrs before they hear back on what GM will participate in. As stated by others, it’s a known issue for lifter malfunctions. The service advisor said he was very familiar with GMs and others PET processes and seemed confident. The vehicle was bought new in January 2020 meaning the warranty expired January 2025. The mileage is currently under the warranty mileage for 60,000 but we know they take which ever comes first. I’ve heard people having similar issues and out about the same time for warranty, but being under mileage and getting GM to fully cover the repairs as a part of “good will” assistance. If they deny the claim, I have an offer for 25k and another potential machine shop quote for less than 8k plus deleting the AFM which is a common culprit for these problems.
  7. Im in the US. I understand 30 hours is what they would need I understand it takes 30 hours. From what I’ve heard, taking the engine apart and putting it back together sucks. Im in the US. That hourly rate is what baffles me. Now do I ask the dealer or GM directly to run an out of warranty calculator?
  8. Hey everyone, my 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT 4WD is currently in the dealer shop because of a popping and knocking sound coming from the engine. After diagnosis, the service technician determined I had a failed lifter on #5 cylinder due to a bent rod. Im not sure if I am reiterating it correctly, but the repair cost is going to be astronomical. I was quoted for lifter replacement and possible cam shaft replacement at the tune of $12,000. I was also told if I wanted a complete engine replacement it would be $18,000. That’s not even the most absurd part. Parts themselves are only $3,000 to $6000. Labor was quoted at $9,000. This is ridiculous. My truck is sitting at 57,000 miles and unfortunately I am out of the 5 year warranty window from when I bought it in 2020. Is there anyway to negotiate the cost of labor down? Anyway to get GM involved to own up to faulty equipment?
