Sorry to bump an old thread but hoping to find somebody that has solved the issue.
'21 Silverado 1500 6.2L.
Bought new in March '21
Don't tow anything and country driving to/from work (60-65mph). I turn off the auto start/Stop every time I get in the truck.
Had first "low oil level" at 4,000 miles. Added 2 quarts of oil then. Dealership said, "just keep an eye on it and we'll check it when we change the oil." Got oil changed at 6,000 miles and when I asked if it had used any oil, I got the, we dropped the oil before we checked. It continued/s to use oil. Started the "oil consumption test" and it's using about 1/4 every 1,000 miles.
Dealership changed the pcv system at about 20,000 miles on odometer and said bring it back in 1,000 miles. Did so, and it did not use any oil. I went on my merry way. Next oil change I went to a quick lube place and they checked oil level when I got there, and "no oil on dipstick". Fk
Took it back to dealership and told them about it. Was told, "if it's not more than a quart every 1,000 miles Chevy won't do anything about it." But, we started the "oil consumption test" again.
It also has a cold start ping.
I've owned a '96 (new), '99 (used), '02 (used), '08 (new), and a '15 (new) all with the 5.7 or 5.3 and never had anything use any oil. Have also owned a '17 Yukon Denali with the 6.2L that never burned oil either. I'm about ready to trade this POS in.
Edit - live in Central Cali. Hot summers and mild winters.
