  1. This is some good information. My 2016 Yukon with the 6.2+8 speed has this exact problem. I sent it in to the dealer and they said they couldn't find a problem with the original pedal but they went ahead and installed a brand new pedal but it yielded the same result. Finding this post confirms the detent is intentional. For me it's not an issue for daily driving but when I tow, it's a total pain. If I'm going up a grade and want just a little more throttle, I'll hit this spot and when it "pops" past this point I'll downshift two gears and race the engine, when I'm only looking for a single downshift. It's so frustrating when manufacturers overthink things and think they're helping, only to frustrate us consumers. It definitely isn't conserving fuel because I just keep my foot there until the motor decides to shift up to the gear I originally wanted. If anyone knows a mod to fix this, I'm all ears!
