Anyone know how difficult it would be to upgrade the rear view mirror? My trail boss came with a "dumb" mirror. No auto dim, no compass, no onstar, no temp read out, nothing. I'd like to at least have auto dimming, compass, and temp read out. Rear view mirror camera would nice too. Is there any chance that the wiring is already there for it and I just need to simply replace the mirror and plug it in? I've seen a lot of aftermarket options and some of them look pretty neat, but for the most part they attach to the existing mirror and I'd like to find something that is as close as possible to stock looking. Thanks!

Hello everybody. I'm new to forums so bear with me. I have a 2003 silverado 1500 extended cab 4x4 with 5.3 engine. I'm having problems with the inside rear view mirror. It is the one that has "passenger air bag" and 2 buttons underneath then has the compass/temperature display. I have found other forums with mirror display issues but haven't found any with my symptoms. Every time I start the truck the compass/temperature display will work fine for a few minutes then the display will go off. It seems to make a difference whether the sun is shining hot or not, because it will stay on longer when its cooler outside. When the engine is running and the display is off, if I reach up and unplug it then plug it back in it will come on and stay on for a minute then go back off. If I shut off the engine then restart, the display will always come back on for a minute then go back off. I have already gone to the junk yard and got another mirror hoping it would be a good one. It is some better than the old one but still doing the same thing. Enough so that I am wondering if something else could be the problem or if I am now the proud owner of 2 bad mirrors or if I should try a 3rd one? The auto dimming feature seems to be working like its supposed to all the time. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
