  1. Prices have crept up lately with the demand I guess... I'm hoping for 30 thousand miles or so but my budget is looking more like 50,000 miles on whatever I get. Still not a lot of trucks around locally. I have been considering a Ram 2500 lease but I'm not sold yet...
  2. Talking me into that used GM... I was looking at new 6.4's w/ the 8 speed but I really haven't jumped at anything yet. I've got a few more lease payments to go so I am gonna make them hope some more used inventory starts popping up.
  3. Count me as one of those people... My lease is expiring and I was hoping that the "massive incentives" would make it easier to jump up to a 3/4 ton. Boy was I wrong... At this point new is more than I want to pay and there are not really any used trucks out there because there aren't any new trucks out there to trade them in on. I am still hoping that the 2020's will see some good incentives by Sept/Oct when the 2021's hopefully start to arrive. I hate to buy a used truck and I am actually considering leasing a Ram 2500 since they offer a lease in the 3/4 ton.
  4. So here's my tale of woe... I'm a long time GM fan and I currently have a 1/2 ton lease, its been a great truck but we have out grown the extended cab and the 1/2 ton. I drove a 2020 Sierra 2500 and fell in love but the price felt more like a divorce settlement... I knew the first 3/4 ton would hurt but having nothing to trade really makes that payment steep. The Ram's especially the Tradesman models sticker for thousands less and you can order them with most of the things you would want and then some, the seem like a value. I am however aware that you get what you pay for... Dodge also offers a lease in their 3/4 ton line up which is very attractive to me. I haven't bought a truck in 6 years and every time they stick some fancy new electronic screen or system in them I think giving them back every 3 years is the right way to go... I'm torn between leasing or potentially buying a Ram or Picking up a used Chevy/GMC that fits my budget... I don't really want to own a Ram long term, but I also don't really want a used truck. Complete first world problems, if GM would just offer a 3/4 lease I would be a happy man!
  5. So I drove a 2020 Sierra 2500 the other day and fell in love w/ the truck, the price however felt more like a divorce settlement... Maybe not quite that bad but definitely more money than I want to pay for a truck. I am trying to get from my double cab 1500 lease into a 3/4 crew cab, so I know the first one is gonna hurt a little but a new GM seems like a bit too much pain... Which brings me to my sacra-religious post topic, A new Dodge or Ram or whatever they are called now prices out less than what I am seeing 3 or 4 year old used GM's listed for. The newer used Ram's are subsequently cheaper as well. I've never owned a Mopar and I realize that there is more than likely a reason that the price is cheaper BUT I also prefer a new truck, especially for what you have to give for a used 2500 crew cab... I suppose I have two questions: 1- Does anybody have an Dodge/Ram horror stories that drove them back to GM? 2- Did those horror stories happen before or after your warranty ended? The idea of whatever I buy next is to get me into something that I can trade towards a new GMC in 3 or 4 years. If I stay GM I would like to be 2016 or newer preferably gas but I wouldn't run from a diesel. I'm not opposed to a 2015 but I know that there is a build date issue, so I would like to avoid that.
  6. At this point, since the dealers around here aren't open for test drives I am gonna start driving the wife's car to/from work and try to stretch my mileage as far as I can go... I hopefully the deals on new get better or the used prices drop a touch...
  7. All excellent points, and I appreciate your input. I don't hate the leases, I may very well lease another one but I'm seriously considering owning one again and looking to keep it long term. I am looking for the added payload capacity and I will more than likely be adding a snowplow to whatever I buy next. The downside of the 3/4 is the mileage on a daily basis. I am going to spec out one of those F150's for giggles but it has been a long time since Ive owned a blue oval...
  8. Leases are cheap on the half tons and it has been nice to have a new truck every 3 years... If they offered good lease deals on a 3/4 ton I would lease one of those! Unfortunately I am constantly pushing up against the mileage limit and I am getting tired of that. I have been looking at diesels too, the extra maintenance costs are a bit of a concern and I struggle with the price vs mileage but that is mostly because I have been leasing for a few trucks... I'm not pulling anything heavy enough to justify a diesel but the mileage on a daily basis would be a lot better.
  9. I'm not pulling anything super heavy, my camper is 6500 +/- loaded and I normally take a bed full of wood, bikes and kayaks along most trips, my inline sled trailer is 3500 w/ both sleds in it but I am looking at adding a sled deck to bring another sled or two on occasion.
  10. All stock, no lift, no evidence that the torsion bars have ever been cranked up. I'm not sure test drives are a thing up here right now but I am waiting to hear back from the dealer. I will not be buying anything I can't drive first! The truck is fairly clean in person but they are never as nice as the pictures... I'm really torn between going 3/4 ton or leasing another half but w/ the Max Trailer package. I would like the 3/4 ton feel when towing but I'm totally sold on giving up the gas mileage as what I ever I get will be a daily driver.
  11. Hi guys, I don't post a lot but I glean a ton of info from this site. My current lease is winding down and I am considering a few different options, one of which is picking up a few year old 3/4 ton. I am getting tired of running up against the mileage limit... What has currently caught my eye is a 2016 2500 6.0 Z71 w/ 50,000 miles. The truck looks well taken care of and it is at a dealer that I have a great relationship with. It has been a while since I've had a 3/4 ton and I have never had a 6.0, so I am wonder what I should be worried about, checking or making the dealer service on a 50,000 mile truck? If I do go 3/4 ton and get away from the lease deals I am looking to hang onto the truck for 8 to 10 years, so I want to start out right. Unfortunately my budget puts me into a late model 3/4 ton w/ 50,000 to 60,000 miles. I run around 15,000 +/- miles a year so I am looking to get 200,000 miles out of whatever I buy.
