Newby here on this particular forum but a longtime Chevy 2500 owner. I recently bought a 2023 1500 5.3. Never having had start stop, I found it really annoying and really do not like the DFM. To avoid dismantling the dash, I went with Range Technology to disable both of those. It connects in the engine compartment at the ECM connections by the left front fender just ahead of the tire. 10 minute job and it has worked flawlessly since last year. Good luck with your fix.
