  1. Wheels and tires are on, love the look but unfortunately I do not like how loud the tires are. I didn’t think they would be bad but my K02s make no noise, these trail blades make a very noticeable hum. I’ve realized now getting older I care more about the quiet ride than the looks. So I’m seeing if I can return these and might go with the continental A/T or anything else really that is quiet. I may go down to a 285/60/20 from the 295/60/20 as well because the tires stick out a bit from the fenders which I don’t want either.
  2. Those are cool, never seen anything like that before. I ordered the mud flaps on the my Chevy site cause I could use my Chevy reward points and they had a 10% off coupon too. Keep us posted on how you like these.
  3. Just read through this thread. I'd like to share my experience and why I went from a half ton to a 3500 6.6 gas. Wife and I bought a RV fish house 2 years ago, it was called a 17' but add in a 4' v-nose and it was about 25' overall length and a single axle. It had a dry weight of 4,600lbs and a dry tongue weight of 675lbs. When I bought it I had a 2019 Ram Hemi 1500 Crew cab 4x4 with the 6'-4" box. The truck had plenty of power to pull it but you could definitely tell it was there especially when passing by semi's or on windy days. We ended up using it almost 20 times in the first year. I didn't like how the engine screamed so much while pulling it and I needed my truck to be a daily driver. So last year I took advantage of the crazy high used truck values and traded it in on basically the same truck but it was a 2021 with the ecodiesel. That ecodiesel is honestly a fantastic powertrain. It pulled my camper so great, low RPMs and did it getting 50% better fuel economy than the Hemi did. But it obviously was still limited by the chassis. Since we had been using the RV so much we ended up ordering custom built one that's 3' longer and is going to be probably 6,500lbs dry and a 1000lb hitch weight dry. So that made the decision easy for us. Again took advantage of the crazy high used truck values, sold my Ecodiesel to Vroom and bought the 3500. Reason I went straight to the 3500 is the tabs are only $100 a year in MN. Pulled my current RV with it and it was night and day difference. Doesn't rev high to pull it and honestly could barely tell it was there compared to pulling it with a half ton. A diesel HD would be overkill for my use so the gas engine made sense. I'm actually fine with Chevy sticking with the 6 speed transmission. It's a tried and true tranny that they beefed up a bit, for my use I prefer the reliability. Before I bought mine I test drove a used 2020 3500 Silverado with the 6.6 gas and I was impressed at how well it rode for a 1 ton. It's obviously not as nice a ride as a 1/2 ton but it's not bad. I tried to order one and actually couldn't at the time and they couldn't tell me when I'd be able to because of the chip shortages. Ended up finding one out of state and had to fly out and drive it home. I've had it for a little over a month and put 2,500 miles on and I think this truck will be around for a long time.
  4. Yes I knew it would effect that, luckily for my use it wouldn't cause me any issue. I ended up going with a 34" tire instead of a 35" so it won't effect it quite as much.
  5. So using some wheel offset calculators and playing with different size tires here's what I ended up buying. I found a crazy good deal on some 20x9 +12 offset wheels. They are Vision Widow 418 wheels in satin black. I really wanted a gloss black wheel like my stockers but for $132 a wheel I decided it was too good a price. With that wheel I decided to go with a 295/60/20 tire. Went with the Atturo Trail Blade XT, according to their website that size is a 34.2" tire by 11.5" wide. They are reasonably priced and I've heard good things about them. I've been wanting to try them for quite a few years, and since they are going to be my summer set I figured it was time. I'm going to keep my stockers with the K02 for my winter set. This set up should fill out the wheel well nicely but not too much and should put me about flush with the fender flares. I'll post pictures once I get them on.
  6. Yeah I noticed that. I usually use discount tire and they said they wouldn't even sell me the 35's if they knew they were going on a 3500 because they weren't rated for the trucks capacity
  7. Yeah I’ve been doing a ton of research. Looked at every possible size. I do see that some of the 35’s come in load E and Load F.
  8. Thanks for the reply., yeah I’ve been looking on custom offsets site a lot for ideas. I come across some pictures that look like what I’m going for and then find another one with the same set up that doesn’t look right so it gets frustrating. I’m leaning toward getting a separate set of wheels and tires for the summer and keeping my current stock set up for winter since I do a lot of ice fishing. I know the current set up will be good in the snow and on the lakes. Maybe run the a true 35 in the summer. And thanks for the link to the thread I’ll check it out. I did search the site for threads and that one did not pop up.
  9. Hello all, I've had my 2021 Silverado 3500 for about a month and put 2,200 miles on it so far. I had to fly out to get my truck and drive it 5-6 hours home, and I had the dealer change out the Michelin LTX AT2's for stock size BFG K02's before I got it. I had thought about going bigger right away but I looked at a ton of pictures of the 2500's that came stock with the Dynapro MT tires and thought they really looked great with that more agressive looking tire. So I thought I'd be happy with the 275/70/18 K02's. This is my first HD truck, and I've always ran 33" tires on all my half ton trucks. Always been 275/60/20 so I've never had a tire wider then just under 11". Plus I've almost always gotten after market wheels for my trucks but I really like these gloss black OEM wheels. I've been looking at lots of pictures and from what I've gathered I should be able to fit 35x12.5x18 tires on my truck with out leveling it. I don't want to level because I bought this thing to tow and I really think the rake doesn't look bad as is. So this brings me to my question, If I go to a 35x12.5 is there any drawbacks as far as how it will ride, handle, or tow compared to a 275/70/18 tire? I have considered going with a 295/70/18 as well. The load capacity of the tire is not an issue, and I do see that the 35" tire has a 65psi pressure max which is also not an issue. I really want the wider stance and look. My other thought was to try some BORA hubcentric wheel spacers to get that wider look but for an 1.5" set of spacers it's over $500 after tax and shipping. I can get a set of 35x12.5x18 Kenda Klever Rt's mounted for less than $1,200. Any thoughts are appreciated, as I said I've never had a tire bigger than 33" or wider than 11" so if there is a significant difference in how my truck will drive or handle I'd like to know. Thanks in advance. Here is a picture of my truck as it is now.
  10. Had the truck back in today, they got it fixed correctly this time. Steering wheel is straight and truck is tracking the way it should.
  11. So the first dealer I brought it to mentioned nothing about the tires so that’s good. However they drove it and tried to tell me it was normal. They checked all the suspension parts to make sure everything was tight but didn’t check the alignment. So I brought it to a different dealer on Friday and they could tell it was just driving it out of the entrance bay into the service bay. So they reset the alignment with the steering wheel straight. Unfortunately whoever did it over corrected it so now the wheel is off the other way. So it’s going back in on Tuesday
  12. Not to derail this thread but if you think a Chevy half ton with the 5.3 will tow better than a Ram ecodiesel you’ve clearly never done it with both. The Ram ecodiesel drive train is great for towing within its capacity. and I wasn’t comparing the ecodiesel to the HD Silverado. What I was saying was while my ecodiesel has the power to tow well, the 1500 platform doesn’t have the payload and capacity that I need for my new trailer that’s being built.
  13. Just picked up my new 2021 3500 gasser yesterday. Drove it 5-1/2 hours home and noticed it definitely pulls to the right. Had to hold the wheel a couple degrees to the left to go straight. My issue is I had the dealer put different tires on it for me before I picked it up. I stuck with the factory size but went from the Michelin LTX at2’s that came stock to the BFG K02. I emailed the dealer right away this morning to ask if anyone drove the truck after putting the tires on, he said he would check. I told him I was concerned that if I brought it in to have it checked they wouldn’t cover anything because of the different tires. He told me to go ahead and get it checked and if there was a charge they would cover it. So I guess I’ll be dropping mine off too.
  14. Thanks, I like the white like yours too but the wife doesn’t. We were going to order a midnight edition but I happened to come across this blue one and we both liked the look. Flying out Monday to drive it home. Looking forward to seeing how it looks with the K02’s on it
  15. I had to chime in here, also had a heck of time finding a truck. Couldn’t order what I wanted so scoured the web and found a crew cab 3500 LT gasser, blue with the Z71 sport. It was the 10th or so truck I’d called on, all of the other ones sold already or presold. Put money down to hold it right away. Mine was also 4-5k more than the one I wanted to order but with no idea when I’d be able to order it I had to jump on it. Flying out next week to pick it up and make the 5hr drive home. I was disappointed that the 3500’s come with Michelin LTX AT2 tires, I hear they are nice but they look like street tires so I made a deal to have the dealer put on some BFG K02’s. Should look much better.
  16. I'm glad I found this topic. OP I am in the same boat as you. I currently have a 2020 Ram Ecodiesel and I must say it is a fantastic truck. I currently tow an RV fish house with it that is 26' total length, probably 5,500lbs when loaded up with a hitch weight of 750lbs or so. While my truck pulls this thing fantastic, I can definitely tell it is there. We currently have a bigger heavier custom RV fish house being built and the builder is telling me to expect a tongue weight of 1k lbs. And there is no WDH that works with it. So I'm upgrading to an HD truck. I don't want an HD diesel so I'm going gasser. Also in MN year tabs for 1 ton trucks are $120 so I'm jumping straight to the 1 ton. Ram is still using their 4th generation cab on the HD trucks, the crew cab back seat is much smaller than Ford and Chevy and the floor isn't flat. The interiors are nicer and I like the 6.4 8 speed combo but to get some of the options I want like LED headlights I have to buy a bunch of stuff I don't want. For those reasons I've ruled Ram out. I had decided I wanted the Ford 7.3/10speed but I've been told by 3 different dealers that there is no guarantee the truck I want to order would be done this year! And again to get LED headlights I have to step up to a Lariat trim which I don't want because both my wife and I hate leather seats. So for those reasons I've ruled out the Ford Last night we went and looked at a used 2020 Silverado 3500 CCSB 4x4 LT. Was optioned pretty similar to what I want to order minus a few things. My wife liked it, and the cab and back seat are huge. I took it on a 15min test drive. Went 70-80mph down the freeway, took it on some back roads at 55-60mph. And of course some low speed roads at 30-45mph. I was really impressed. It was very quiet inside, road much nicer than I expected from a 1 ton truck. And it was very snappy from a stop and accelerated to 75mph on the on ramp to the highway pretty effortlessly. I'll admit I had reservations about buying one of these because of the 6 speed tranny. This truck and drive train are overkill for what I'm going to pull with it so I can't see any reason why this truck won't be great for me and my family. Down side is the interior is not as nice as my Ram 1500 but I'd hardly call it crappy. It's still plenty nice for a truck. So I've got the dealer doing a build and price for me today. I'm hoping he says they can make the order and get it fairly soon. He did warn me that there could be issues do to the chip shortage. My order is 2021 Silverado HD 3500 CCSB 4x4 6.6 gas Northsky Blue Z71 Sport package (this package is great and gets you step bars, spray in bed liner, color matched bumpers, LED lights) All Star edition (this is automatically selected with the Z71 sport and the safety features hear could cause order issues) Convenience package Safety package Off road package Cab lights, bed lights, bucket seats, Autotrac transfer case, sunroof Anyways long story short, if the price is right and I can actually order it with these options we are planning to do so. I think we will be very happy
  17. Ok, I figured that might be the case.
  18. Why do they drop the mpg rating for the 4x4 models? I understand that if you are in 4 wheel drive the mpg will be worse. But if you are in 2 wheel drive cruising on the highway why should the mpg be any different than a 4x2 model. Does the weight make that big of a difference?
  19. Thanks for useful replies. I actually like what I'm hearing here. Please keep it coming, I would be very pleased if the new v6 could be what I'm looking for
  20. Nobody else with the V6?
  21. Hello all, I am new here and apologize if this has been covered already. I have done a lot of searching and couldn't find anything on this. I am wondering if anyone here can share what kind of mpg they are getting with the V6 in their new trucks. I am going to be buying a new truck next year and right now I am going to go with the truck that nets me the best mpg so I can ditch the commuter car and use it as my daily driver. I currently own a 2011 silverado with the 5.3 but this v6 has plenty of power and towing capability for what I need. I am also considering the new colorado but I need to check it out in march at the car show before I will know if i like it or not. So anyone who can share what they are getting and in what model truck would be appreciated. Thank you
