I wish I had found this site 2 years ago.. I have owned 4 new Chevy trucks in the last 18 years and I recently just bought my wife a new 2013 Equinox's. So I am a Chevy man. Only on one occasion have I ever had to take my truck to be serviced, and that was my 1994 short bed. The clutch went out at 6,000 miles.. Other than that I have never had a problem with my prior trucks.. I now own a 2012 Chevy 2500HD and it is the worst truck I have ever owned. I am posting this because I am having the same problems that the original guy and others are having and for 2 years I have been trying to get the problem solved.
This truck vibrates as it roles down the road since it was new. I have felt it in the peddle the accelerator and throughout the truck. It cups the tires on the inside and the out sides. The center of the tire has 1/8 inch high and low spots after 6,000 miles. I had taken the truck in numerous times only to be told they cant find the problem. I purchased new tires. They took my tires off and were going to put the new ones on but they later found out that they couldn't get then in so the put my old ones back on. I sat there for 2 hours after they had been put on, no one told me the job was done. I had to ask if the job was done.. That was an accident or so I told myself... I brought my truck back a few day later I didn't have time to get back I had work to get done which I told the service man. I can back to have the tires put on and I waited.. Again the tires were finished and I sat there and sat there. I had to ask one of the service men if it was done again I found out it had been done for 2 hours.. To me this was there ploy to keep me from coming back. I work out of my Truck so my time is valuable as is my truck.
I came back a few months later to have 2 armrest replaced because the cracked out (only one was replaced) so while I was there I showed the cupping to the service man and told him that it still vibrates when I drive the truck and I was kind of blown off. At that point I was feed up. I called GM who then called the dealer which then got the ball rolling. I brought the truck in again and they brought in the manager which I then showed him the cupping. He tells me that since I only had one paper showing rotation (I rotate them at my shop most times) that he couldn't do that much. That if I wanted to buy 2 more tires that he would pay for the rotations. I said bullcrap I just paid over $1,000's for tires, that I wouldn't buy another tire. He came back and said he would buy them but I would have to pay for the rotation. I really didn't even want to come back remember I was left hang on two different occasions for hours.
I agreed and when they went to put the tires on they realized that they put C tires on and E's were suppose to be put on. sS they replaced all 4. At first the problem seemed better but after a week or two the problem was there again I am sick of it.. If I have a 44oz drink in the console it shakes like crazy. My mirrors have wobbled for so long that everything is blurry when in use..
I now have Googled the problem and the vibration problem seems to a common problem, But I haven't heard of to many people complain about high/low spots and cupping of the tires..
I now have called GM and set another claim and I have switched dealers hoping for some resolution. The problem I have, is I now have 67,000 miles on the truck. My first phone call about the problem was when the truck had less 15,000. I am so disappointed with GM. If this problem isn't solved I will never own another GM vehicle again..
Sorry for the rant but I just found a site where others are having the same problem I have.
The trucks arm rest on both sides are cracked out. I tried to check the tranny fluid for the first time and the dipstick holder is cracked in half at the mount (For how long is the question) When I start the truck 1 out of 4 times it turns over 8 to 10 times before it starts. I own a lemon!
