  1. Alabama, and all your dealer has to do is look at the service bulletin on the roof bows. I'm sure there are other bulletins regarding the noise. A salesman is not going to ackowledge it while your looking at them but the service department is aware of the issue. After the regional meeting yesterday there were fixes discussed one was replacing something on the back axle maybe a bent or wrong angle on a pinion?? The other had to do with the drive shaft. GM knows about the issue maybe your dealer hasn't had any complaints locally but its out there. Mine will be going to the shop in about 2 weeks, they have another they are starting on next week. I will keep you posted. They are going to start with the drive shaft and axle then go to the roof bows last.
  2. You guys can go back and read my earlier post to review my issues, but here is an update. Apparently there was a regional meeting yesterday for all service managers in my area. GM is aware of this issue and they have some type of machine they are sending out to all the dealers. They are doing training on this machine and it detects vibrations and noise to determine its origin. The regional GM service liasion drives a yukon and is experiencing the same issue. Apparently most service shops are now acknowledging the problem. We will see if this helps find the cause and an eventual solution to each case. They obviously have multiple items causing the problems. This release of this machine only tells me they don't have one solution or one root cause. I will keep you guys posted on what happens to mine. I've patiently waited to see what action my dealer takes and they told wait till after this meeting to proceed. I appreciate you guys trying to solve this issue but I don't have the time or expertise. I'm going to leave it up to the dealer to solve it or they can have it back. We like the Yukon XL but cant drive it this way. Mine is more of an annoyance than anything and there is no way I can continue to drive on longer trips. Mine is really noticeable at 45mph.
  3. Oh yea I have a Yukon XL not sure I even have (anc) but mine does have the bose stereo system.
  4. I was told today by the local service manager that GM had a fix message out and that the metal bows across the roof above the headliner were separating from the roof causing this booming sound. Wind over the roof driving down the road would make the bows reflect and going across any bumps would cause the feel/sound. The service statement also said this MAY or MAY NOT fix the SOUND/FEEL your experiencing????? It's odd because I definitely get the sound/feel at low speeds 5mph over the slightest bumps (even concrete expansion joints) but when I hold 45-mph it sounds like a rotational noise but with the sound/feel of the boom on a rotation. The dealer said they have one other complaint and their vehicle is really loud at around 35-45 mph. The GM recommended fix mentions that the stiffness of the rear end hitting bumps would cause this booming sound. It also mentioned tires out of round would cause the bows to flex(they've rotated and road forced balanced mine twice less than 5k miles) It almost sounds like the vibration of the drive train causing the sound. My first instinct says it's cheap tires (mine are Continental) but I'm not sure this is the problem. The fix is to take the headliner out and place shims or insulation filler (ie foam) between the bows and the roof. The also mention in the fix that when the vehicle goes from 8 cyl to 4 cyl you get a muffled sound which I agree with but don't think it's all the problem because mine will do it with the tow haul engaged which keeps the vehicle out of 4 cyl over drive. I think it's more than one issue and all these 2015 sound proofing or dampening features have amped up this internal sound/feel. I have no knowledge of the sound system and how it works or plays a part in this problem. I can't drive the car under these circumstances and not sure I want the headliner ripped out. I was assured that they snap in and use no glue etc which was required with the old liners???? You will literally go crazy driving this car down the road. I wished I would have found this site before I bought the vehicle. I hope this solves the problem because we will not keep this vehicle. We recognized this issue the first time we test drove the vehicle but was told by the salesman it was flat spotted cold tires which made since at the time. They are going to get our car soon and keep it for a test drive over several days. I told them not to do anything until they check with me, I will keep you guys posted.
  5. Glad I found this site, I thought I was crazy. When we test drove the Yukon XL I noticed this sound and or feel. I mentioned it too the salesman and described it as a balance or tire issue. He said it was probably because the tires were cold and flat spotted. It made sense and we bought the vehicle but the problem didn't quit. I took it back and they rotated the tires and road forced balanced, they said the tires were out of balance. Once again the sound/feel didn't quit. I took it back again and they road forced balanced the tires saying one was out. Once again the sound/feel was the same. I drove several others(with different tire rim combos) on the lot with the service manager and experienced the same thing on all the yukons and denali's. The service manager claims he doesn't here or feel anything but also mentioned the exhaust change over when it kicks into 4 cylinders and said maybe that's what your hearing or feeling. I drove a friends with different tires and rims and it sounds and feels the same. I was about to take it back this week and ask that they put Michelin tires on the Yukon versus these continentals then I found this board. I just emailed a link to myy dealer and ask that they review this website. We have a great locally owned dealership Ray Miller Buick/GMC here and feel confident they will fix this issue. We like the yukon xl but cannot continue to drive it under these conditions. I think someone accurately described it as when someone rolls one window down going 55mph its the noise and feel you get from this happening. GM really touted eliminating road noise and it's true they did it's very quiet. I just got back from a 7 hour trip each way driving a friends 6 year old denali in which I drove their car. I could hear wind and road noise like crazy and when I got home we drove ours and there was none of those outside noises but the boom was back. My wife had gotten use to driving it but when we got back she couldn't believe how bad it was until now. It's so bad I don't even want to drive it anywhere. I will keep you guys updated on what we find out.
