  1. Full disclosure; I am going to go into my tirade without reading the last few pages of the topic, but I am a veteran of this thread. Quick recap. We bought a 2015 Suburban LTZ back in March. The cabin pressure and vibrations were terrible. We argued with the dealer and GM forever. They know there is a problem, and even have a bulletin that is not broadcast to the public. They changed the shocks, which helped a little bit. After pleading our case and threatening to lawyer up, they said they would get us a 2016. Didn't sound bad to us; our vehicle already has 12k miles on it, and all they would charge us for would be any difference in MSRP between the 15 and 16. I'm guessing that we were getting one of the first 2016s out there. Well guess what?!?!?! It has the same problem. They have minimized the rough transition from V4 to V8, and it is barely noticeable. However, the cabin pressure and vibration within the vehicle, especially on rough roads is horrendous. Be careful too; they don't offer the same colors as in the past. Why the hell would they get rid of the White Diamond Tri-coat? Don't hold your breath for the 2016.
  2. Update on my 2015 Suburban LTZ. First time I've posted in a while. The dealer has had my car for over a month. They have tried new shocks, and the roof TSB. (Just part of the process unfortunately). Our vehicle has had 3 major problems. Pressure in your ears, a bad vibration from the rear of the vehicle when driving on rough roads, and a vibration when the vehicle transitions from V8 to V4....which it does way too often if you ask me. There is clearly a software issue on this last one. I have contacted the area Manager of Aftersales. This appears to be one of few people I have dealt with that has a clue. The Dealers have NONE. We appear to be making some progress. Our State Lemon Law, which is essentially where we are at, says they have to replace, or refund. Since we'll only accept a Suburban, Escalade, and Yukon XL, it appears that we are headed for a refund....since every vehicle I have test driven has these issues (2 GMC Yukon XL's, 2 Suburbans, 1 Escalade). Know what to look for folks. If you take a quick test drive, you might not notice it. Once you drive it for 500 miles, you can't wait to get out of it! My advice; stay on them. Call, call, call some more. Email everyone you can. Send letters. Be firm, and do not be afraid to contact an attorney.
  3. Update on my situation. Quick recap; same issue as everyone else (Suburban LTZ). Dealer says no buyback time after time. I tracked down the District Manager of Aftersales in my area, and I now have some progress. (Guess what? They can force the Dealer's hand). They sent an engineer out, basically to confirm the problem. They're trying new struts and shocks as others have tried. The kicker is, they are approaching 15 business days with our vehicle. So when this doesn't fix the problem, the car will officially be eligible under the Lemon Law. They'll either be buying this vehicle back OR I'll get my money back through the Lemon Law Process. We've had to make a BIG stink on this. I've written letters, made a ton of phone calls, complaints, etc. It's a shame we have to go through this, but DON'T GIVE UP, and as another user commented to me, 'walk with a big stick.' Keep all your documentation. Good luck to everyone else. I'll keep updating.
  4. This is probably a long shot. I'm looking for the contact info of the District Manager of Aftersales in the Northeast. Specifically, the Springfield, MA area. If anyone has been through this, and has this MYTHICAL person's contact info, it would be very helpful....and appreciated. GM and Dealer playing hardball. I AM NOT GOING AWAY!!! I've posted a complaint on the NHTSA. Made complaints with GM. I'll be spreading the word (BBB, Attorney General, etc.)
  5. More run-around by GM. They continue to tell me that they will not buy-back the vehicle. They're talking out both sides of their mouth. They acknowledged that service bulletins have been issued, and in the same breath, they said they will not buyback the car since it is a 'normal operating function of the vehicle!' WHAT?!?!?! Not only that, but they said the only thing they'll do is a trade in....BUT they can't find me anything!!!! Funny how our first conversations with these same people, they act all innocent and say they've never heard about this, and we're the first ones. We're hiring a lawyer.
  6. Morecowbell; as far as I know this problem is only with Suburban, Yukon XL, and maybe Escalades. The Tahoe is a smaller vehicle and I have not seen many, if any complaints about the vibration/pressure/buffering noise. You'll probably be fine.
  7. Hi all, We requested a buyback from GM several weeks ago and all we get is the run around. We've been told the District Manager would be calling us on 3 different occasions. This hasn't happened for 2 weeks. We will be hiring a lawyer. I wonder how quick the judgment will be when I drag my 4 little kids into court. $70k for a vehicle that gives you headaches and vertigo. They better hope this doesn't turn into chronic inner ear problems for my wife, or I'll be getting a lot more than my $70k back.
  8. Hi all, we requested a buyback from GM. Sounds like the process is that they contact the dealer, and the dealer really has the call. Unfortunately, the dealer where we bought ours, has initially stated they will not buyback the vehicle, but they will do a trade in. I find it highly unlikely that I'll come out anywhere close to even in this transaction. We essentially paid $73k after sales tax. They'd have to give us at least 67-68k for the trade, and take another 5k+ off the price for whatever vehicle we decide to replace it with. I really hope I don't have to start something with our Attorney General and get lawyers involved. Looks like I might have to threaten to go to the dealership every weekend and make a scene in front of all the prospective buyers. Handouts might be a good idea too. I could hand them out to everyone who comes on the lot. $70k for a car that runs like a POS, and they do NOTHING to help!
  9. The dealer will try to tell you it is a 'normal operating condition of the vehicle.' That may be true, but a defect in the vehicle, and the fact that they don't know how to fix it is not a valid excuse. If GM's recall department doesn't think it is a safety issue, they have another thing coming. My wife is experiencing severe headaches and vertigo since she has been driving out 2015 Suburban. Our vehicle is driveable, sure....just have fun with the incessant headaches and pressure in your ears.
  10. Hoping to help those looking to purchase a 2015 Suburban, Escalade, or Yukon XL. I have driven 3 different Suburban LTZ's and 2 separate Yukon XL Denali's, and they have ALL had the vibration/ear pressure issue. Do NOT buy this vehicle until they fix the problem. It is something you may not notice on a test drive. The problem is less noticeable at lower and highway speeds. We test drove ours, and bought it without hesitation for 70k! However, a week and a half, and 500 miles later, we can't wait to get rid of it. Pressure in your ears that cause headaches. Consistent, noticeable, vibrations when the car changed from V8 to V4. And have fun wasting your time trying to get the dealer or GM to work with you. We notice the problem most between 35-45mph. Unfortunately, that's where my wife spends most of her commute; between 35-45mph. The problem is not something we can live with, never mind the fact that we dropped 70k on a car that runs like a POS. GM knows the problem exists. I've had 2 separate dealerships look at it, and the service people know the problem as well, and the techs agree with us! I had a service foreman at a large dealer tell me there's no way he would ever buy this vehicle (2015 Suburban, Yukon XL, and Escalade). The car drives horribly. BUT, GM has no fix yet. If you have a commute that is mostly highway, you can probably live with this. But should you? Really? After spending this much money on a vehicle? We're looking for a 2013 or 14 with low miles. We'll see how bad they try to screw us on the trade in. If that doesn't work, we'll have GM buy it back.
  11. Hi all, update on my 2015 suburban. Dealer acknowledged that this is a problem with the 2015's. sounds like an issue when the vehicle goes from v8 to v4. There's nothing they can do. They said they would try to find us a 2013 or 14 and we could trade the vehicle in. I'm sure they'll try to screw us on that too. Any roadmap for how to have gm buy back the vehicle would be great. Thanks in advance.
  12. Hi all, I'm new to the forum. My wife and I have been loyal GM customers for quite sometime now. In particular, my wife has gone from Equinox to Envoy to Yukon to Suburban to her first NEW 2015 Suburban LTZ, which she slapped down 70k for. What a disaster. She's had the car for less than a week and cannot stand the vibration inside the cabin. Her ears (and mine) experience the pain/pressure like so many others on this forum. I can't have my kids in this car! In addition, apparently the new engine is much louder than the older models. She traded in an '08. The 2015, apparently because the way the new engine is made, maybe because of electrical components, makes a ticking like noise at idle. Disappointing, but bearable. We just called the dealership today, and left a message for the manager that we will likely be having them buy the vehicle back. With this looking like an issue with Cadillac, GMC, and Chevy, what the heck are my options for a large SUV? We have 4 kids, and my wife WILL NOT drive a minivan. Are my only options to go used? If so, how far back do I need to go to find something without this vibration issue? Thanks all!
