  1. I only did the HMI and USB at first. Siri and phone calls won’t work. I eventually bought the radio and a trim panel removal kit and it was real easy to swap out. Heck I thought it was much easier than swapping the HMI or USB.
  2. Thanks to @th3magpi3 for helping me with a radio to complete my CarPlay update. I had originally just bought the HMI and USB when someone had posted that you just needed a software update for the radio on a 15.5. Of course that didn’t work and was upset I wasted $125. Now with the new radio Siri and phone calls work correctly.
  3. Yeah it works in motion. When I’m driving my daughter likes to change stations on Slacker radio. Then she’ll put it back on Google maps for me. I’m in the process of trying to get a radio module so I can send it to @th3magpi3
  4. Same here. Skip, previous, and volume buttons work on CarPlay. Also if I try to hold the talk button to activate Siri it tells me that no bluetooth phone is connected.
  5. @th3magpi3 I hope I can just buy the radio and sent it to you instead of having to also sent in the HMI but if you need both then I’ll put back my 2.0 in the mean time. So just look for any U2M radio and I’ll be set?
  6. Where would I look to see what my radio firmware version is. I would like to compare mine to @Crsortiz1
  7. Look though this thread and contact Chris White about programming it to your VIN.
  8. I noticed on that YouTube video the guy had the shop icon and I didn’t. Makes me wonder if the HMI would’ve been updated that Siri would’ve work after getting my radio updated. It did for the OP of the video.
  9. Sounds good and good luck. I’m hoping that you’re able to just program the radio and it will work instead of having to also reprogram the HMI along with the radio.
  10. I guess the radio module is missing a part(microphone) that allows audio input over the USB connection? Or that the mic is only configured to work with Bluetooth. All of the music apps work fine on CarPlay. Just speculating on my part.
  11. I read that the truck won’t start without the HMI in so I’m guessing I would have to put back my 2.0 HMI while I send the 2.5 and radio to be programmed.
  12. I just noticed that you said $200 to program the radio and HMI. So do I have to get both programmed at the same time or can I just get the radio programmed and it will be cheaper? Obviously I got the HMI already programmed to my VIN
  13. It’s a 2015.5 (had the text function) I was thinking it would work because the OP of the YouTube video posted in an update that he updated his radio and Siri and phone calls worked. I’m will eventually get the radio but for now I’m content with music and navigation working especially with Waze and Google Maps coming next month. Unfortunately yes. Not sure why CarPlay isn’t working with Siri or phone calls since it’s allowing audio to come from the music apps
  14. $135. Was hoping it was going to work. So it’s $200 to program plus whatever the radio cost. Man...going to wait a bit before I try doing all that
  15. Bad news. I got my radio updated and nothing. Only thing I noticed is that MyLink responses a bit faster and CarPlay opens faster. So I guess now my only option is to get a radio module. Just a bit bummed out since I spent a pretty penny updating the radio. Is is it possible to get a radio module already programmed to your VIN from one of the guys?
  16. Going either tomorrow or Friday to get my radio updated. I’m just going say that my radio sometimes stutters when listening to music
  17. Well the only reason I went there is because I dropped off the wife and kid at a store and that dealership was nearby. I’m definitely going to a different one next week.
  18. You still have the 2.0 HMI just an updated version. I’m on the last process of completing the project which is getting the radio module updated.
  19. Well I just tried going to a dealership to get my radio updated and the guy is asking me why do I want to do it, what’s wrong with my radio, how many miles, and if they do it and nothing changes I’m still going to have to pay $150. So I tell him that I swapped the HMI and he tells me there is no way, you need it programmed. So I told him I bought it online and the guy already programmed it and then proceeds to tell me that’s illegal, blah...blah. Then tells me they can’t do it today even though it’s barely 1 and they close at 4. Ugh...guess I’m going to have to wait till next week. I don’t know why they need a reason to update the radio.
  20. So is it safe to say the following is true: 2014-need to upgrade radio module 2015-need to upgrade radio firmware 2016-nothing additional needed I included 2016 since there was a shortage of the 2.5 HMI for a bit for that years model
  21. Yes I had the text app before. I never really used it because it only works with Android. If I remember correctly, when my friend hooked up his Android phone it allowed him to type a response when viewing messages but only when in parked. I think when in drive you can only select from predefined responses when replying to a message and have MyLink read out loud messages. When I get a chance I’ll try to get the radio module number
  22. 2014s and early 2015s did not have the texting app. I guess at some point the 2015s came with a newer 2.0 HMI with the texting app. I seen posters on this forum refer to those trucks as 2015.5 which is what I have. I was really hoping I didn’t need to update the firmware on the radio but alas I going to have to
