Yep! This is what the engineers are telling the mechanics to do! -

They tried this on mine and I told them what they could do with their half ass hose clamp fix. Then they sent my driveshaft out to have weights added on where the clamps were and the truck vibrated again. The clamps worked, but only as a temporary fix. Don't except that as permanent! -

Update: Got a call from the dealer today after requesting a buy back from general motors and it has been approved by the district manager. The only catch is I have to buy another Chevrolet which is not what I was interested in. So with that being said I am thinking about asking if they can put me in a 2016 Camaro. I am not interested in another silverado and don't really need a truck anyway. Just wanted one. Anybody else get something different with their buyback other than another truck? -

Keeps us posted on what they say about the repurchase. That will be my next step. I picked my truck up today after being at the dealer for almost a month. I drove it the other day with the mechanic and it drove great, but I asked them to send out the driveshaft to have it balanced properly (after they used hose clamps to balance it). Took it out on a good 80 mile trip on I-71 where the road had been repaved and the vibration/ center console shake was back as if it was never fixed. That makes 5 repair attempts and over 30 cumulative days out of commission. Three different dealerships and still not fixed. -

I went to the dealer today to check out my truck and test drive it and I have to say it rides a lot better on the highway but I expressed my concern on using hose clamps as a permanent fix for the driveshaft. They agreed to send it out to a local shop to have it balanced properly but didn't sound optimistic that the truck would drive the same once they put the shaft back on. I sincerely hope it does at this point. Makes me wonder how many other trucks they gave back to people with hose clamps as a fix. Not everybody knows how half ass that is! -

The update I have on my truck today is not a good one. The dealer called and said the vibration is "better". They loosened all motor, tranny, exhaust mounts and torqued them all back down. Then the genius field engineer decided to balance my new driveshaft with hose clamps. Is this really the best thing their engineers can come up with? -

I would request a complete rear axle assembly if they wanted to replace just ring and pinion gears. I asked the mechanic working on my truck if he had actually had to do this with any of the shakers he worked on and he said GM is telling them only to replace ring and pinions because they don't have enough rear axle assemblies. -

Update on my truck; 1 new driveshaft, 1 new front tire, 4 new shocks, multiple road force balances and still not fixed. The dealer finally got the engineer out to drive the 5 trucks that they currently have in for different vibration problems and he wants to pull my driveshaft out....again. How can I end up with two bad driveshafts? What are the odds? Why did they replace the shocks???smh. -

I'm more interested if anyone has hired an attorney and what the costs/outcome was going that route. My situation hasn't escalated that far but I would imagine it would be easier..... -

My purchasing dealer said I should take my truck somewhere else. So I found a dealer that has experience in the shakers and took it there. They've been great so far! -

Same deal here, they first replaced my driveshaft and that made absolutely no difference. After all four shocks replaced and front right tire it felt like it did when I first took it out on the expressway (about 300-500mi on the odometer at that time). Not as bad but still there. When they gave it back to me last week all tires were within spec but the two rear tires were just barely at the road force limit which they told me was 15lbs. Something on this truck has to be causing all these parts to wear prematurely! The mechanic that replaced the driveshaft said he could see it bouncing around like there was something not right with it. Now it's back at the dealer and I'm afraid this time their gonna tell me it's all normal, but I know the vibration will come back as it wears out more parts. That sucks because thats more money out of my pocket if they eventually do buy it back.. Even worse, the dealer has two trucks ahead of mine with the same problem so it could be weeks till they get a field rep out to look at it. -

There is a used 2015 with 2000 miles sitting on the lot at my dealer. I looked at the carfax and seen 5 service records on it. Hmmmmm...... -

I've seen where a lot of people were concerned with this being related to the larger diameter rims or the goodyear tires but I have the regular 17in rims with bridgestone duelers. One dealership has the pico pointing to the driveshaft while another shows it being a tire/suspension issue. As the dealership told me....nobody knows whats going on. Same problem since late 2013, you would think they'd have this figured out by now. -

I picked up my truck today after multiple road force balances, new driveshaft, new front tire and 4 new shocks and I have no change in the center console vibration. Now the dealer working on it wants me to bring it back in and have the field rep go over it again. This poor dealership has had several trucks in for the same thing and can't get them fixed. I actually feel sorry for them. -

Got a call from the dealer. The field engineer says to replace all four of my shocks??? This is after another dealer replaced my driveshaft and after several road force balances?? Is this gonna solve anything? -

I called my dealer today for a status update on my truck that has been there for a week and fourth repair attempt. They told me they have exhausted all they can do on their level and have a gm engineer coming in to check it out. Not sure what all that means but it sounds like they won't be able to fix it. Doesn't sound good.... -

Well my situation is no different. Just got the truck back today and it still vibrates. I asked the mechanic what he thought after driving it and he said it felt better. I asked him how far he drove it and he said a couple of miles. I took it 10 miles down the expressway and it shook as if nothing had changed from when I dropped it off. Called a different dealer 35 miles away from where I live and they are very aware of the problem and are willing to check it out tomorrow. This will be the fourth and last time for repair. After this, if not fixed I am going for the buyback. -

Mine went back in for the third repair attempt on Tuesday and I got a call today saying that they used the pico scope and determined the driveshaft to be the cause. From what I read on these forums that has never been a solution. Fingers crossed! -

Hi all! I'm new to the forum and have been following this thread for a while. I have a 2015 Silverado LT double cab with the 5.3 and wanted to share my experience with the vibration issue. I bought the truck brand new with 8 miles on the odometer. I probably had 200 miles on it by the time I first had this truck on the express way, as the nearest express way from where I live is 30 miles away. At 65-75 MPH I noticed the center console shaking. After 2500 miles the vibration didn't get any better. Actually it became more noticeable. So I decided to take it into the dealer. Since my dealer is so far away from the express way they really had no way of diagnosing what was wrong and could not get it to replicate. So they did the road force balance and checked the alignment and said everything was ok. Two weeks later I went back on the express way and the vibration seemed worse. Once again, made an appointment with the dealer and took it back. They did the road force balance again and found the front left tire out of balance. They fixed that and fixed two recalls on the truck while I was in there and told me if it still vibrated to take it somewhere else and have them check it out. I went straight to the interstate after I left the dealer and sure enough the truck still vibrated. At that point I made an appointed at the dealer closer to the interstate and asked if they would do a ride along with me to confirm that I am not crazy. That ride along happened today and the mechanic confirmed the vibration. The mechanic said the vibration would have absolutely nothing to do with the tires and has to be drivetrain related. He said he doesn't even think he will be able to fix it!! Everyone be aware also that some of these mechanics work on commission, as I was told and that the only thing they will do is throw parts at it. I lucked out and got a mechanic that works flat rate and said he would need several days to work with the pico scope and really find where the vibration is coming from. So that's where I'm at. The truck goes back next Tuesday and I will get a rental till they figure out whats wrong. Just thought I would share my experiences and hopefully help out someone else who is in the same boat. I will keep you all posted on what they find!
