No clue. All I know is that my wheels looked like they had a "hop" to them while spinning but were verified to be true and well within RF specs. -

I believe the problem is with the axle studs. Lift your truck in the air (jackstands and all) and watch your rear wheels very carefully. I don't believe the axle studs are in proper alignment. It's almost as if they are drilled just a couple mm off center and that is why the entire rear axle replacement usually solves the vibration issue. If wheels are true, and tires are balanced the axle studs have to be off center to cause vibrations. (My truck was ultimately bought back under FL Lemon Law, but I did lift the rear and my wheels looked like they were out of round when they were spinning. Verified by local tire shop and dealer wheels were true and minimal road force balance.) -

BBB granted my repurchase. 3 visits, 4th and final repair, and an attempt AFTER the 4th visit. 52 total days out of service. The process was smooth, and easy but it took a while to get to this point. -

GM Representative said he would think about repurchasing my truck if it still vibrated after the 4th and final attempt. I brought it in for it's 5th visit (and for him to see that it still vibrated) and on that visit they replaced the rear shocks and said it was good. So after the 5th visit the GM Rep said they would only do a trade and will not repurchase the truck (conversation between myself and the GM Resolutions Management Team via phone). Now that I have exhausted all avenues attempting to have GM repurchase my truck in good faith I have filled out my BBB Auto Line claim (04/18/2016). Will provide more status updates as they come. -

GM's Resolution Management Team wants to see proof my truck still vibrates after the 4th and final attempt so I have an appointment scheduled for this Monday (04/11/2016). I requested a buy back directly from GM so we will see if that happens or if we have to go all the way through the Lemon Law process (my truck qualifies under FL Lemon Law, it's been out of service for 30+ days AND 3 repair attempts with the official final repair attempt from GM). Hopefully I'll be able to update you all soon with a good outcome. -

Nobody wants to deal with the hassle, but I'll be damned if I'm taking a loss on my truck. Per FL Lemon Law my truck qualifies not only by the 30 cumulative days, but also the 4th and final repair letter was sent and is now complete. It has taken a while, but if GM does not offer to repurchase I will go through BBB Arbitration and I'm almost certain per FL law GM will have to repurchase my truck. The consumer has the right to chose repurchase or replacement (at least in FL). -

I think that's what the majority of people settle for and don't go through the whole process. -

For those of you trading your vibrating trucks in, why not go through the buy back process and not lose thousands during a trade? -

Harry gave me the news today... Since my truck STILL vibrates and is on it's 4th and final attempt he has ordered some special tires. -

Dropped the truck off at the dealer for the 4th and final repair attempt. Truck also has 30+ days in service over the previous 3 repair vistis. Truck was purchased new in late November 2015 and today is March 22, 2016. -

Got the truck back today with dealer provided upgraded wheels and tires w/ a new drive shaft too. It has been there since 01/27/2016 and today is 03/02/2016. Guess what?!?! NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!! Still vibrates. I sent my final attempt repair letter 02/29/2016 so I will not be taking it back to the dealer until GM responds with where they want to make this final attempt. However, the truck is going to sit until that time because I refuse to drive it because if GM has not been able to correct the problem, how can one deem it safe to drive? -

From the previous cases in FL for "collateral charges" people have been reimbursed for wheels, tires, custom tool boxes fitted to the vehicles, tint and other things. There was actually a case where a Rolls Royce was determined to be a lemon and the customer recouped $8k back for his wheels. The BBB did not allow charge for the tires though. The manufacturer stated they were "oversized wheels" and should not be responsible, however, BBB determined the wheels were an appropriate charge. Im going to assume the customer got a lot of use out of the tires hence the charge not being allowed. -

FYI if one happens to go through the BBB and a repurchase is granted you can go after every penny invested in the vehicle. This includes wheels, lifts, tint, etc... It's part of the "collateral charges" you may be entitled to if the BBB finds that the vehicle is in fact a lemon. -

UPDATE: Truck has been in the shop for 29 days straight, 34 total. The dealer has ordered ANOTHER set of wheels for my truck because the factory take offs with ZERO miles on them still vibrated. I think it's that time. -

Also, if you do put in in "Drive" while in the air, don't be stupid. Please take all precautions such as using jack stands, block the front wheels, don't do it in a closed garage... You get the the picture. I don't want to read about someone who got ran over or killed by their own truck. Also, if you do put in in "Drive" while in the air, don't be stupid. For those trying to track the vibration on your own, have you lifted the rear wheels off the ground and put the truck in "Drive" and checked how the wheels look while spinning? Mine appeared to be bent while spinning on the truck but the tire shop and dealership both confirmed the wheels are straight as an arrow with road force numbers under 10. This is what leads me to believe it's the rear rotors may be the issue. If straight wheels spin perfectly on a balancer and not perfectly on the the vehicle when the rear is in the air that leads me to believe the problem must be the surface the wheels mount to (the rotor). The rotor may be mounted improperly or there is a minimal defect in the manufacturing process, only time will tell. I want to get my truck back so I can run it with out the rear wheels and actually see if this is infact happening. -

I find it interesting the GM throws rear ends, drive shafts, and wheels and tires at the issue but it does not seem that the actual rear rotors have been replaced. Considering the wheels mount directly to the face of the rotors it seems that it's plausible that the rotors could be manufactured with just enough variance to cause a vibration. -

Almost makes one wonder if this is the cause of the vibration and GM is rolling out in this manner so most customers don't go looking for a vibration instead of "Trailer hitches cause vibrations is "x" model Silverado and Sierras". Food for thought, especially after all of this time one would think there would have been a lot of broken trailer hitches by now if that's the case. -

UPDATE: My truck has been in since 01/27/2016. Dealer ordered a replacement drive shaft (If you have been following a post I made earlier, I actually pulled my drive shaft and had it checked and balanced at a custom/performance drive shaft shop and it was basically spot on. They added a small slip for good measure but resulted in ZERO change to the vibration). The dealer replaced my driveshaft and I verified that it was replaced because I marked my original one. That did not rectify the issue. The dealer had a set of OEM take off 18's w/ Goodyears and installed them on my work truck that has the base steel gray 17's on Bridgestones. They called to inform me the truck was ready to be picked up (02/12/16) and they had a surprise for me! They informed me that had upgraded me to the 18s at no cost to me and the vibration was gone. I arrived at the dealership (Chevrolet of Wesley Chapel FL) and spoke with Marty (awesome guy BTW) and we talked for a few minutes and then I went on my way. I tested the truck on the interstate immediately after picking the truck up and the vibration was now worse than before. I immediately called Marty and let him know that we still had a vibration and I promptly returned the truck and was back in my loaner (that vibrates too) within a few minutes. This is my 3rd visit unfortunately and my vehicle has been in the Service Center for more than 15 days but at this time less than 30. I do qualify to submit for a final repair from GM, but I'd really hate to go this route as the truck looks great as we all know but we literally cant "shake" the vibration at this time. I can't say enough great things about my dealer though. They have been testing, testing, and more testing and keeping me updated throughout the process. I really feel bad for everyone who has a dealer that says this issue is "normal" or "within spec". If you are having that issue, I strongly advise finding another dealer willing to provide the level of service you/we as customer(s) deserve. Another reason I'm really hoping it does not come to Lemon Law/BBB/Arbitration/BuyBack/Repurchase is because I had the work truck front and rear bumpers, grille, bumper cover between grille and bumper, headlight trim, mirrors and door handles all color matched and the truck tinted. The truck looks stunning! I'd hate to think I would be out all of the $$$ I put into having this work done. -

I'm a Volt owner as well. The Volt IMO is the best car GM has ever built, its reliability is bulletproof. -

This is not cool at all. I really hope your arbitration meeting goes well! If it's a "characteristic" of the vehicle it should be listed on the window sticker as an option. Also, it's not a "characteristic" of all Silverados only YOURS and the rest of our trucks that vibrate. If EVERY GM truck had the vibration that was noticeable then it could be a characteristic, but since they do not it is an issue that needs to be corrected. -

I appreciate GM Customer Care commenting on here, I have been treated very well by them so far with my issues. I would like to say while my truck is still in for the vibration issue my dealership has done an amazing job at keeping me a happy customer. Wesley Chapel Chevrolet has gone well above and beyond attempting to rectify my vibration, and if anyone is in the Tampa Bay area I highly recommend them because of their level of Customer Service.
