  1. I have taken the nerf bars off my 2007 Silverado 1500, because a few rust spots occured. Funny story is that I threw the body mount bolts away somehow. Anyway, the replacement bolts that I found come in a kit. Is there just bolts out there to purchase? What size are they? Any help would be fantastic.
  2. Thank you for the information. I am buring up to two quarts every 1000 miles! When I am driving, I have noticed that every so often I will get blue puffs of smoke that will come from the exhaust, I believe it happens when the AFM starts working. Thank you for the tip. I will get the AC Delco valve cover and replace it and see if that helps. Putting piston and rings in it doesn't seem like a good idea. I'd do a crate motor before that.
  3. I have a 2007 Silverado 1500, newer body style with a 5.3. I have been having oil consumption problems for some time now. I had read about the PCV valve being an issue and an oil deflector in the oil pan being a cause. I had all these things changed. Still burning oil. I was talking to a local GM mechanic, and when I had my new valve cover with the PCV built in it was a Dorman product. He was saying that the AC Delco one that is OEM is better and has a slightly different design. Has anyone else had this issue?
  4. UPDATE. I have done all the updates that GM has put in the bulletin for the truck. When, my mechanic removed the oil pan, the deflector was already in place, and done by someone prior to me owning it. The pcv valve is new. The valve cover gasket on the right side had been changed also. My mechanic said that he didn't think a compression test was needed because the truck doesn't appear to be running rough. Any ideas?

  7. Yes. Changed plugs. It's using more oil than normal also. Like 3 to 4 quarts between changes. No visible leaks either. PCV changed also
  8. I have a 2007 Silverado 5.3 LT, Z71. I have had a check engine light on that had been on and was a P0420 code. I changed all the O2 sensors and reset. It came back on it within 100 miles. I have dealt with it for awhile and I just checked the engine codes again and I have a P0420 and P0430 codes now. The truck seems to run fine and I did just change all coil packs. Any ideas?
  9. My truck has been burning oil for awhile now, and there has be no signs of leaks under the truck. I have changed the valve cover/PCV valve, and the passenger side valve cover gasket with no improvement. This morning, a friend called that was behind me and said when I was accelerating they saw bluish smoke coming from the exhaust. Ideas?
  10. I have been using a lot of oil between oil changes and usually adding more every 2k miles. I had taken my truck to a mechanic and he said the PCV valve cover was an issue with the truck so I replaced that. After that, I was still using a lot of oil, with no drips noticeable until I changed the spark plugs and noted on the right side of the motor, there was oil at the back of the valve cover. So, I replaced the gasket, and went to a conventional oil instead of a high mileage. I did my routine oil change, again, and now after 2k put on it after the oil change, I had to add 2 quarts of oil. There is no visible drips or leaks that I can find. Any ideas????
  11. I have a 2007 Silverado 1500 5.3L LT package, and the newer body style. I recently had a check engine light come on, and it is a "P0121" Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch. SO, I called my local Napa and they gave me the only one my truck called for. I got it back and was going to install, and can't seem to find it on the motor. Can someone help me where this is located?
  12. Would that cause fluid to be on the steering knuckle boot?
  13. I have not changed the tensioner pully. That was my next thing to change. IF there is a leak with the high pressure line, is that a whole new pump or a line? I also know there is two lines to it. I have changed a power steering pump in an 03 GMC seirra, so am familiar with that. I'm assuming it's just about the same>
  14. I own a 2007 Silverado 1500, Z71. I kept having a squeal when the motor was running and would increase when you accelerate. I thought it was a idler pulley, changed it and no change. I changed the serpentine belt, and helped for a a day and was back. I then thought it was the bearings in the altenator plus, I noticed that the voltage would fluctuate when I would drive. That fixed it initially, then about 5 miles later, the squeal was back. Prilor to me changing all of this, I had to change the water pump. Anyways, I noticed that there is a bunch of fluid around the powersteering pump reservoir, and when I pulled the cap off it was full of fluid. I can't tell where the fluid is coming from, and it is all around the reservoir, and on the steering knuckle as well. I am not sure exactly why this is happening. Does anyone have any ideas?
