I had an extended warranty on that truck. It's the dealer/manufacturer's responsibility to fix it and I should not have to pay for something that is not my fault. I suggested on several occasions to replace the TC which they did not do because they claimed it was not the issue. Too frustrating to deal with and I just want a smooth running truck. The Dodge rides better regardless so I'm happy.

Just to be clear, I am in no way disrespecting Chevy or GMC owners here. My Denali was a great truck aside from the transmission issues. I just couldn't stomach my 60k truck not being able to handle to most basic task, like drive without excessive vibration. I had it at the dealer at least 5 times and they did nothing but flush the fluid. My last visit to the dealer, the were certain it was the tires. I was very skeptical, but I replaced all 4 tires with an alignment and it did nothing. That was it for me, it had to go. So all I'm saying is if there are GMC or Chevy owners here having the same transmission woes that I had with no end in sight, try driving a Ram. You'll see that GM really botched the 8-speed up big time because it's a night and day difference. I planned on having that GMC for a long time, but enough was enough.

I had the 6.2. The Denali felt like it had more power which it does (420hp vs 395hp), but not by much. The Ram is very responsive and no lag when the accelerator is pressed unlike the Denali which happened once in awhile. The transmission of the Ram is silky smooth and easily outperforms the GM 8-speed on its best day. No clunking or searching for gears. My Denali also had the Magnaride which was stiffer than the Ram's air suspension, but allowed it to handle better with less body roll than the Ram. The comfort level of the Ram suspension is nice though and handles bumps with ease. Take one for a ride.

Well I finally had enough of my 2017 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate and its never ending transmission issues. I traded it in over the weekend for a 2019 Ram 1500 Limited. I gave the GMC at least 5 tries to fix my truck and they couldn't solve it. It was a pain in my butt since day one. The Ram's 8-speed shifting is flawless which completely boggles my mind how GM botched their 8 speed. If any of you guys are having the same issues I had, just get rid of it and get a Ram. Trust me when I tell you that this is how a truck should drive. Good luck everyone with your Chevy and GMC trucks. I'm a Chevy guy and will always be, but for now I had to go to another brand.

I had an intermittent vibration issue on my 2017 Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate. It would only happen on light acceleration around 1500-2000 RPM and only once the truck was fully warmed up. I can only describe the vibration as a shake that very noticeable in the steering wheel that resembled a rumble strip type of vibration. I had to have a tech from the dealer go for a ride with me to feel it. The problem turned out to be that the transmission was overfilled from the factory. GM told them to double flush the tranny and replace the filter. I haven't had any problems since and overall shifting and smoothness has improved vastly. Also from what I was told, there isn't a dipstick the check the transmission fluid level. I haven't even checked that yet (shame on me!). If you are experiencing the same issues, feel free to relay that information to your tech!

I had a similar issue in my 2017 Sierra Denali. I had a tech from the dealer go with me for a ride and he definitely felt it. They ended up calling GM for a fix and what they found out was that the transmission was overfilled from the factory. The excess fluid caused foaming which made the transmission shudder on light acceleration and only when is was fully warmed up. The fix was to double flush the transmission and change the filter. Since then, the shake in the steering wheel is gone and shifting is much smoother. I would definitely have a dealer look into that for you. Trust me, I was VERY close to trading this truck in because I couldn't stand it anymore.

Yeah, the technician couldn't believe it either.

I own a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali with 6.2L w/ 8-speed trans. For a few months now I've been experiencing intermittent vibration that was very noticeable in the steering wheel, almost like a rumble strip type of vibration. It only happened on light acceleration and when the transmission was fully warmed up. I brought it to my local GMC dealer to have them look at it. They couldn't find anything wrong with it and gave me the normal BS answer that it was operating normally. I let another 2 weeks pass before I got pissed off again and brought it to another GMC dealer. This time, I had a tech go with me for a ride and he could clearly see and feel the vibration I was talking about. The service manager said he would call GM and hopefully get a fix for this. So after 2 days in the shop, I got my truck back. Apparently the transmission was overfilled from the factory causing excess foaming in the fluid which can cause shuddering. GM instructed the dealer to do a double flush of the tranny and replace the filter. So far so good, I haven't felt anything and shifting feels smoother. I know there was a TSB about this for '15-'16 models, but the dealer told me that there was an update in Feb. 2017 that applies to my truck. I didn't get to see it so I can't tell you what the TSB # is. Anyhow, I thought I would pass this along to anyone else experiencing this issue. I know how frustrating this stuff can be so passing info like this along I hope will help someone else.

I am thinking about getting a new set of rims for my 2017 Sierra 1500 Denali. My Sierra Denali has the Ultimate package with the 7 spoke 22" rims. While I like them, they just don't have the same appeal as some of the other GM wheels available. One set in particular is the 22" 6-spoke chrome rims (SEZ) 19301157. I also like the 22" 6-split spoke ultra bright machined manoogian rims (SF0) 19301161. Does anyone have these rims on their truck? I'd really like to see what they look like on a Sierra or Silverado.
