  1. But did you put in new pads or the old ones? I bet the sound will stop with new pads... it doesn't make sense, but it seems like that's what did it for me.
  2. Just for another data point this is my Firebird, I'm waiting for the pads to wear down to support my theory.
  3. I'm sorry, but I'm not following this at all. Are you saying that the slide pins aren't round in every case? By grooved or smooth I can only think that you're talking about the ends of the pins, the threaded end should have grooves to hold the dust boot and the other would be smooth, but they only go in one way.
  4. The fronts on my '88 Firebird (with C4 HD swap) with Hawk pads started doing that ages ago and I never figured it out, figured some part of my assembly was off. Then my 2016 Sliverado started doing it occasionally and I never touched them! After doing the brakes on my truck it went away, so pads and rotors along with a little fresh disk brake lube were the only changes. My current theory is the pads... but only because I greased the snot out of the Firebird brakes with no luck and I really doubt it could be the rotors! Speaking of GM rotors, check out this wear pattern!
  5. Yep, the cover was latched. You can 'just' see the trailing edge of the cover on top of the tailgate in the video.
  6. New guy here... kinda wish I found this site a bit earlier. I decided to get a Bak Revolver X2 and installed it tonight.... the cover was delivered quickly, installation was straight forward, and the build quality seems nice. But that where the good comments stop. See the video below for the reason why I took it back off immediately. Tomorrow I'll have to contact the dealer and see if swapping it out for the MX4 is possible or if I'm stuck with it. Video here As you can see just pushing down on the cover makes it flex like it's just vinyl but since there is aluminum in there it rattles too. I'll ignore the rattling since I have no idea if it would rattle while driving... since it wasn't on long enough to find out. I really feel that it isn't secure at all, not with all that movement. The latching part is a bit annoying too, I knew that you had to physically push it down (instead of the hard cover where you could just drop it in place) but you need both hands since there is enough flex it in to allow one side to latch without the other. It seems like the latching panel would be easy to pry up too. There is a chance that I'm being too picky, but as of right now I definitely like the hard folding design better. But not EVERY panel has a latch on it for the 6.5' bed.
