  1. Right. The "SES" light is not on. Went to the local Advance Auto parts store and was told they couldn't scan it. Is there a different type of scanner that can read a code without the light being on?
  2. Thanks for the suggestion Leatherneck. I'll check it out
  3. Hoping someone can share some resolution recommendations. Have searched this site for similar issues without success, although I'm sure they're out there. My issue is that the "service stabilitrak" message intermittently comes on accompanied by a chiming sound. Park assist, abs, and cruise control (if active at the time) are all disabled. I haven't noticed any rpm fluctuation, or difference in transmission shifting. The service engine light is not, and has not been displayed. The truck has 123k miles. Spark plugs were changed @ 118k miles. Any ideas, suggestions or sharing of similar problems and solutions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Dennis
  4. Thanks for letting me know! I discovered after the engine ran for awhile that the compass heading displayed in that field, so the compass was indeed calibrating.
  5. A status code, “CAL”, appeared in the information field after my battery went dead. I assume it stands for Calibrate? There’s no other information provided. I put the window up & down, because I’ve seen the prompt to do that before, but the note remains. Can anyone shed some light on the solution? Background: It seemed that the engine cranked a little slow recently & was about to change it after the truck got out of the dealership bump shop. I know they disconnected the battery for some of the work.
  6. Thanks for the reply and sharing your experience. Gives me some piece of mind about doing the replacement myself. Your information confirms what was told to me by the dealer’s service department when I inquired. When I was researching a purchase, “professional installation “ was recommended. Doesn’t look like too difficult of a job, but the potential memory issue was a concern. No longer! Thanks again!
  7. Hi, Looking for some suggestions for saving my 2017 Silverado memory for radio presets, and apparently there's some systems related to driveabilty that need to be kept, as well? I've seen some items online that plug into the scan tool port, and some that plug into the auxiliary power outlet (cigarette lighter port). Anybody use any of these with success, and can recommend a specific type? Thanks Dennis
