  1. "I purchased a 2016 silverado a few months ago with 12k miles on it. I noticed the vibrations 73+ miles an hour. I took it in to the chevy dealer i purchased it from and they claimed to have never heard of chevy shake and didnt have customers complaining of this ? Sounds like BS with the amount of people experiencing this issue. They road force balanced the tires and said 2 of the tires would not balance out of "red zone" Anyone had this fix their issue? Factory bridgestone tires. I really am dreading going down this road with this truck. What seems to be a common fix?? " My vibration issue was solved by changing to Michelin tires and having them road force balanced to the gnats ass. My truck came with the OEM 22's, so I wasn't too concerned about the vibration as I was sure it was the wheels/tires. When I had the same issue with different rims/tires, I tried to get the local GM dealer to fix it-- they admitted there was a problem (verified by pico test) but conveniently it was "within spec." They were worse than useless, had my truck in four times to no avail. Went to Discount Tire, completely different customer service. Put on a set of Michelin's (275-70-18's)-- they did a "standard balance" and I still had minor shake. They then performed full RFB to very tight tolerances, and my shake is almost entirely gone. For other folks it may be driveshaft etc, bottom line is, anything that's out of whack in the driveline can cause these tuning forks to vibrate. Find a good tire shop that will do an RFB, though it sounds in your case like you're going to have to replace at least two tires. Your dealer should cover this-- they're admitting they sold you a truck with tires that will not properly balance out of the "red zone." Good luck.
  2. My 2016 CCLB 6.2 has a vibration above 75 MPH. Not terrible, but annoying, especially for a $50K truck. My dealer admitted there is a vibration, but the pico says it's within specs, therefore they won't do anything. They supposedly checked runout on the driveshaft, but couldn't provide me with the readings, so I'm dubious. Had a long chat with the service mgr-- he said the frame beaming issue magnifies any vibration, but say GM won't authorize service given my pico readings. He also said that since I'd put a straight pipe in place of my muffler, the local field rep would deny any vibration claims-- flies in the face of Moss Magnusson, as well as common sense. Changing from Michelin LT's to P's has helped, along with RFB, but there's still a vibration-- most probably wouldn't notice it, but I'm anal about my vehicles, and especially sensitive to this issue. By the way-- the Michelin LT's (275 65 18) weigh 9 lbs more than the P's, with significantly stiffer sidewall of course, so no wonder they give a rougher ride. I installed the leaf spring clamps in front of my axle, and torqued my U bolts from about 40 to 70 lbs-- but no discernible difference. I may pay for a driveshaft balance, but beyond that we're into axle/differential stuff, which gets expensive, with no guarantee of success. I've been holding off installing my leveling kit as that would somewhat understandably kibosh any warranty for vibration, but at this point-- what the hell.
  3. Here's Ford's solution to a shaking truck-- a damper that you bolt directly to the frame. Obviously just a band aid, but I'd be happy with that at this point: OEM 2006 Ford F-150 Frame Damper Kit Vibration 6L3Z5D008B 6L3Z-5D008-B http://m.ebay.com/itm/191972089076?_mwBanner=1 After three trips to the local Chev dealer, the focus of which was to place the blame solely on the wheels, I took my truck to same owners larger store about 30 minutes away. My truck (2016 CCLB 6.2) vibrated from day one, but I figured it was the tires, which I swapped out after two weeks of ownership. Now I've got the aftermarket wheels, which they are placing the blame on, so I kind of screwed myself by changing out the stock wheels, and of course selling them right away (By the way, the guys at Discount Tire have been fantastic-- they've done RFB for no charge, and switched out the original Michelin LT's with P rated tires). I asked the second dealer if they could check runout on driveshaft and wheel flanges, check pinion angle, and anything else. Picked the truck up, they said they ran all the tests and it was within spec (providing no details what "within spec" meant, or exactly what tests they ran). The service guy wasn't in when I picked it up at 5:30, so I wasn't able to ask questions. The service report did say they ran the Pico scope on it, and it showed a minor (within spec of course) 10Hz vibration, which is evidently first order and relates to a wheel issue (so they say). Since the wheel is attached to the axle, which is attached to the ring gear, which all rotate at the same speed, seems this vibration could be sourced from any of these components? Since I've installed the P rated Michelins, the vibration does seem better, but it's intermittent as well, which makes it all the more frustrating. This has been the most dismal,worthless, time-wasting customer service experience I've ever had. At this point, I'm thinking I'm going to have to take ownership of this issue and try the leaf spring clamp fix. Evidently the Sulastic shackles don't help. Any other ideas???
  4. I've had my 2016 to the dealer 3 times. I took the service bulletin (10059132-88 mentioned in many previous posts) regarding the vibration in with me, and the service mgr said it only applies to 2014 and 2015 Silverado's. Given the bulletin came out in 2015 it's rather easy to understand why it doesn't cover 2016's, but he said they would have updated it to show the 2016's, unless there was a change for 2016. Does anyone know of a change between 2015 and 2016? I've had the pico scope done, and it conveniently came in just under the threshold to be considered a problem. He said he would push for getting my driveshaft balanced, but Chevy would probably deny approving that since I have aftermarket wheels (Michelins, which have been balanced and RFB'd to no avail). Also-- I've started a case thru the GM website. I've been shuffled to 3 different customer service folks as my case works it's way up. The last one suggested I go to another dealer (definition of insanity?) and when I pointed out the absurdity of this, she said she'd email the region service rep about my issue, and cc me. That was two weeks ago, no email and no reply to the 5 voice mails I've left. They are very polite though... and great with the stall tactics. To sum up: once we eliminate the wheels, it's either driveshaft, third member, axles or rotors.
  5. Well crap-- I was afraid of that, still looking for the magic bullet. Thanks for the info though. My service guy said they had one in where they replaced the rear end and drive shaft, and it did nothing. So he's using that as an excuse to not want to look into the drive shaft or rear end or axles. I do believe that the stiff frames magnify any vibrations, but what the hell, Honda figured out years ago that they had to engineer flex into their motorcycle frames. What's taking GM so long?
  6. First post, after reading most of this thread: Purchased 2016 crewcab, 6.5' bed, 6.2L w/ 3.23's in September. Came with 22's. Noticed shaking at 73 mph+ on drive home from dealer in Montana (I live in WA state, but found what I wanted in MT, a 6.2 LTZ w/ the 40-20-40 front seat to accommodate kidlets). Took a video of the shaking water bottle (like we've seen so much of on Youtube) and sent it to my salesman-- he said take it in to my local dealer. I figured it was the wheels, and since I planned on replacing them I held off on going to the dealer. Got the wheels replaced with 18's a couple weeks after purchase, with Gear rims and Michelin Defenders (LT 275's) and guess what-- the shake remained. Took it into my local dealer, explained the symptoms in great detail, brought in a copy of the service bulletin, and even provided the video I took. Picked it up a few days later-- they had let some air out of my tires, folded up my tonneau cover, and said "it's much better." It wasn't. Went back, and got the "it's a truck, they all do that. In fact we drove two others on the lot, and yours is better." I told them this was unacceptable, so they had me come back in and they did the Pico test. They also ran the test with a different set of wheels, and according to the readout (which they provided a copy of) it was better, conveniently within spec, with the different wheels ( a set of 20's with Continental P tires that they had taken off a new truck). I took my wheels back to the tire shop, and they did a balance, then a RFB, neither of which produced a discernible change. Back to the dealer with a request to drive the truck with the 20" Continentals. It seemed a little better initially, perhaps due to the fact that they're P tires and not LT's. But there's still a vibration, though like many, it's somewhat intermittent. So now what??? I asked the service manager to do the tests they line out in the service bulletin, but he said the first thing Chevy asks is if they've done the pico test, and if it's within spec, they won't authorize any more work. I've called GM direct, much to the chagrin of my dealer, and have a case number going. I'm going to press for doing the tests on the drive shaft, ring and pinion, etc-- we'll see. I understand the dealer is under GM's thumb, but it really pisses me off when they pass it off saying they all do it because the frame is so stiff. My questions: Has anyone put airbags on the rear suspension? I understand this would only mask the symptoms, but I'm okay with that. I thought about the Sulastic shackles, but I believe Abominable tried that to no avail. Has anyone tried different struts (or whatever they are) in the front? Again, masking the symptoms, but I'd take it. I'm struggling with the notion that LT's would be worse than the P tires-- it seems the stiffer tire would simply transfer more road roughness, but anything originating from the truck wouldn't be affected. Maybe the slightly rougher ride from the LT's would just make the vibration seem worse. Any help is appreciated-- I've never been more excited and then disappointed in a purchase!!
