So here is one for you guys, I am new here and just picked up a 2012 1500 4x4 with the 4.8. It is a sweet little truck and had a P0305 code. That is not a big deal I bought it started swapping parts from cylinder 5 to Cylinder 3 and installing the cylinder 3 part on 5 in an effort to find the culprit. Plug from 5 to 3 Wire from 5 to 3 Coil from 5 to 3 Injector from 5 to 3 No change! p0305 check engine light flashing returned withing 30-45 seconds of idling along with Service Stabilitrak and Traction control. I decided to investigate further I ran a sB12/Seafoam can through the Brake booster line after talking to a dealership who suggested the cylinder had carbon buildup? No effect Used Noid lights to verify the injector was firing Compression tested cylinder 5 150 psi Did not test other cylinders not sure it will help the plugs looked clean no oil soaking. Removed valve cover expecting to find broken valve spring valves look like others in the head and open and close the same distance as 1,3, and 7. I am at a loss the truck runs fine no noticeable misfires. If you erase the code and stay driving keeping the truck moving the codes wont pop, but coming to a stop the code and traction warnings illuminate, then go away after moving again. eventually the Check Engine will stay illuminated. Additionally I sometimes get a P0174 Bank 2 lean but bank 2 is the other side of the engine not sure what to do or test next, I am not one for using shops I have been burned more than I am helped. You guys are my last hope. I have access to a decent scanner and can look at live data misfire counts ABS/SRS ect. I have found that if I unplug the MAP the computer will not trigger the P0305 code or misfire counters but will instead trigger the appropriate MAP codes. Scanning the MAP not running show atmospheric pressure and while running senses the changes in pressure quickly but I do not know what to do next. One final Note I am a stickler for maintenance and the oil change is over by a bit or at least the computer thinks so, I want to change the oil after I figure out the issue but Might go ahead and change it, but doubt this will have any effect. Truck only has 117k miles the dealer I called said it was either carbon buildup or bad spring, I am hoping there is a computer flash or some other option that doesn't cost a fortune and could potentially be under a warranty/update/recall ect. Please let me know how I can help you help me!!!! and if I did something wrong go easy on me I am new normally used to working on my old 57 chevy not this new stuff.
