You know, now that you mention it I think I previously stated GMLAN network and I misspoke. It was the LIN wires I found corrosion in and the green/yellow wire to be more specific. I'm glad that solved your issue. Sorry I misspoke but glad for the resolution.
I don't know the part numbers of hand but I do know there was a harness option when I replaced the pig tail. According to your information I would definitely take a close look at the harness, especially where it passes near the window regulator. If there are no codes it would lead me to believe there is a power/ground issue. Use a meter and check for voltage on the 12v supply to the window switch with the key on. If you don't have any power I would bet the harness is shorted and blew a fuse.
Interesting to say the least... Just to clarify, do any of the Windows function with the drivers door switch? What codes do you have if any? Most will set some type of "U" code for communication faults. These will help dial in a potential issue. It sounds to me like there is more going on here than my example. I'll help out as much as I can.
With my example the pigtail had to be replaced. On the other hand; According to GM with almost all their wiring repairs the first step is to clean with contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease to seal it. If you suspect your application is a result of corrosion but cannot see any, clean it, plug it in and unplug it a few times, apply dielectric grease and see if it makes a difference.
Hello everyone. I work as a tech for GM and have for years. I found this topic after searching it online. GM has no information regarding this issue but after my findings I filed a field service report with GM to make sure they are aware.
Last week I had a customer bring his '17 Sierra into the dealership with the exact issues stated earlier, door ajar message and drivers window didn't work. Both issues were intermittent. I checked for any literature that could assist in pinpointing the root cause, and found none. So I started from scratch. The window open/close signal and door ajar signal are on the same GMLAN communication circuit. That circuit runs through the window motor (driver) assembly. Ultimately I found heavy corrosion in the connector to the window motor and the pigtail to the harness. I replaced the motor and pigtail and fixed the customers issue. Here are some pictures of my findings. If you don't find corrosion in the pigtail look very close at the window motor pins.
