  1. I agree that it can be easily avoided and it definitely isn’t a “buy my truck back” situation for me. That said, it’s an automatic transmission. We should not have to manipulate our driving style/technique to prevent the truck from choosing the wrong gear in a flat or slight grade situation. It’s likely a simple setpoint adjustment. In X gear, below X rpm, below X speed, don’t activate AFM. A steep hill is whole different thing where if you want to maintain speed you have to press the pedal harder to force a downshift. I think GM could get a little smarter in these situations. If a guy is going up a hill and maintains throttle position or increases it, the computer should constantly assess the grade and speed and downshift to the proper gear to maintain speed... similar to how it does when cruise is active, only the computer would have no control over the throttle, just gear selection. Obviously if you reduce throttle at any time going up a hill, you may be approaching a stop sign or something and the computer should abort any effort to maintain speed. Maybe its all just a fuel efficiency thing... GM makes it go into the steeper gear to increase fuel economy... GM doesn’t automatically adjust gear select for hills because they know not everyone will mash the pedal to force a downshift and it helps fuel economy. Either way, it’s super annoying trying to go up a hill and people don’t maintain speed.
  2. Interesting.. I was thinking just the opposite. I think the AFM is the cause of the shudder problem. Also I get a shudder in my 6 speed sometimes. Usually after coasting to about 30 MPH, then feathering the gas to maintain 30. Feels like its just 1 gear too steep.
  3. Im not sure. I had them off the truck the other day and I found some number on the casting but no brand name. They are some kind of OEM knockoffs. Google "silverado black snowflake wheel" and youll gets lots of results.. http://ezdealin.com/new-set-of-4-satin-black-20-snowflake-wheels-for-chevy-silverado-tahoe-suburban/ https://www.oewheelsllc.com/CV98-20090-black-rims-fit-GMC-Sierra
  4. Off topic, but I really like that wheel and tire combo. what offset are your wheels and what tire size you running? Any rubbing?
  5. Just bought it Tuesday evening. Bilstein 5100s are on the UPS truck as we speak. Probably go with notch 3 just to keep a little rake for towing/hauling. This truck is replacing my 1999 GMC K1500. The old girl was a beast with the 5.7 and 3.73s, but maintenance burden was more than I wanted to deal with.
  6. You’ll likely be fine with a boat in that weight range. A dual axle trailer would be best with a boat of that length. Find a boat you want and run the numbers to be sure. Boats can vary a lot in weight even if they’re the same length. Also, 4WD can be very useful on a slick, steep boat ramp... not necessarily a requirement though.
