Update. I had my windshield tinted with Air80. Ended up with some bubbling around the rear view mirror so they redid it. No issues with the electronics either time. It definitely makes a big difference with the heat inside the truck.

Thanks for all the responses. I’ve got an appointment to get my windshield tinted on Tuesday. Hopefully it’ll go smoothly with no issues. I’ll update afterwards.

The main reason I want to do it is to help with the heat and UV protection for the dash

I was planning on going with a clear film on the windshield. They’re wanting me to sign a waiver not because it’s illegal, but because they don’t want to be held responsible if the electronics get messed up. Apparently it has happened enough for LLumar to start sending out warnings to dealers/installers.

I appreciate it. I’ve been able to find horror stories of the Rams shorting out. Won’t start, horn blowing, tailgate opening... etc but nothing on Silverados besides the tint guys being concerned. I agree that if Tesla’s don’t have any issues then we should be fine ?

I had LLumar CTX put on all 4 doors and the back window but the shop that did them wouldn’t touch the windshield other than doing a visor. I contacted another shop afterwards that said I would have to sign a waiver. They both said that LLumar started sending them warnings about tinting the windshields on the newer model Silverados and Rams. Ask your shop about it when you get yours done. I’d be interested to hear what they have to say. I’d be more comfortable signing the waiver and having it done knowing that others have done it with no issues.

Has anyone ran into any problems with getting their windshield tinted. I’ve had two shops tell me they won’t do it unless I sign a waiver because water may get in the dash and damage a module causing the trucks electronics to malfunction.
