I had mine in last week because of the screen going blank, the dealer found it was down rev and updated it. He thought it may help the screen brightness. It did not. It may very well be a combination of various issues. The duct tape was just a quick, cheap way to see if I could change the problem.
Cheers
What I found on my 2019, the problem is not the camera, it's the two incense plate lights that are shining below.
To prove my theory, I put a piece of duct over each of the leds for the license plate. Now at O dark thirty, when I leave for work, I can back out of the garage and still see my side mirrors, before it snags the door trim.
Last week my info screen went black on my 2019 Silverado, <800 mls. It happened twice. Took it to the dealer and it actually failed for them. The service manager told me that they were under the assumption that everything was new and redesigned. They discovered that mine was not up to date. Firmware/O-S what ever you want to call it, so they updated it. I also mentioned about the backup screen being overly bright, he said that the upgrade might help. Sad to say it did not. However it got me wondering, I noticed that the leds for the license plate were directly below the camera and sensor. So this morning, I put a piece of duct tape over each led and low and behold, the screen wasn't as blinding as before. Now all I have to do is figure out some way to fashion a 'hood' to illuminate the license plate without shining directly on the camera.
Happy trails.
