Well, I spoke too soon. Mine goes in after thanksgiving for a leak inside the bell housing. Not a major one but leaking. Wiped off inspection plate 3 times and it keeps accumulating on it after a drive. Probably pump or front seal in the bell housing. We will see..I hate to have transmission dropped already. Oh well!
It's definitely inside the cabin. I would say it's the bearing or bushing in the column. It coincides with the turning of the steering wheel at slow speeds.
Have a 2020 Chevrolet 3500 4wd. Anybody else have the noisy steering column. Has a popping click sound when making slow speed turns. Never hear it at highway speeds. Always at slow speed maneuvers. My 15 did it also but my 17 did not. The one thing that my 15 and my 20 have in common is neither had the digital steering assist. My 17 had the assist and didn't make the noise. Drives me crazy.
Yep, I don't particularly like it but I can live with it if it's normal. Kinda like the duramax ticking and the transmission ticking while going through the drive thru that was on my 17. 120,000 on it with no issues whatsoever.
I've got 700 miles on mine. I've had the faint knock since day one. Gets louder as truck warms up. Tech at dealership told me some do it more than others but not to worry about it. My 17 didn't do it. Sounds like it is somewhat normal if others are doing it.
