  1. Thanks, newdude. Yep, I ended up sending it back, couldn't deal with having to cut the ends off either. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into it.
  2. I own a 2001 Chevy Silverado 3500 and am wanting to add the tailgate band emblem to it. Problem is, the band is about 2 1/4" too long for my tailgate. I have two options; send it back, or reduce the length to fit my tailgate. Anyone who is familiar with this band emblem know if it can be cut without causing damage? It's aluminum based material, semi rigid, with adhesive backing. Suggestions on what cutting tools to use that would be most sufficient? Thanks.
  3. Hello all. I installed a set of electric fans in my 2001 Silverado 3500, 6.0. Install went as planned, pinned everything correctly, and had the PCM tuned. Everything works, however, my battery indicator constantly flashes on and off. I positioned the positive wire from the fan harness to the back of the alternator (as instructed), and the negative cable to the negative battery post (as instructed). I do have a two battery setup, with the negative cable from the second battery attached to the first battery (where the negative cable from the fan harness is hooked up to). I upgraded the alternator to a 135 amp when I went to the two battery setup to accommodate the upgraded audio system. The truck runs fine, it's the flashing battery light that concerns me. The service engine light is also on, but that is most likely as a result of a crankshaft variance relearn procedure to be needed (from the PCM tune). I did a scan with a basic OBD scanner and the truck's throwing a P0405 code (EGR), which I don't think would cause the battery light to flash. Do I need to reposition the positive and negative cables from the fan harness? Upgrade my alternator again to a higher amp? Thanks for any advice.
  4. Thanks, Cam, I appreciate your advice.
  5. Good morning all. I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 3500 rear wheel drive, 6.0, currently set up with a 4L80e transmission, has approximately 148K in miles. No obvious issues with the transmission, recently changed the fluid and filter after previously doing a complete flush and fluid change. A buddy of mine came across a rebuilt 6L80 transmission, zero miles, offering to sell it to me at a great price and will help with the install. A few questions, if you all could help out: Will I need a new PCM? New wiring harness? Will I need a different drive shaft? New transmission cooling lines? Am I stupid trying to fix something currently not broken? Anything else I should be aware of? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.
