New toy came in today

Well going up a long 6% grade truck was in second. Tablet said load was 100% throttle was at 99.9% engine temp rising to 254* it was bogging down and died. 1 cooling fan was inop again. But it died which confused me. It fored right back up I got the coolant back down to 230 and it pulled find the rest of the way. Im confused why it died. Trans temp never got above 215* on that hill.
