I am at a loss. I've searched far and wide trying to figure out what part to replace on my 2001 Silverado LS 5.3
Someone attempted to steal the truck and jammed up the lock cylinder. Purchased a new cylinder had a locksmith come out and fit the ignition to my original key. That is all good now car starts fine, but now my steering wheel does not lock when I remove the key.
I think what happened is they had a shaved key, got into the truck and their shave key wouldn't start the truck, they yanked on the steering wheel and snapped something freeing the steering wheel. I am lucky to still have my truck, but I am concerned something is broken within the steering wheel and don't want to risk it getting jammed and locking up while driving.
Am I over thinking it? Maybe. But my real question is I can't find out which part to replace that locks the steering. I replaced the lock cylinder case as well with no luck.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Desiree
