  1. I have a 2011 1500 ECSB that I swapped the stock LC9 5.3 for a newer L96 6.0. The tune is stock except for disabling AFM. The truck starts, idles, shifts, and runs fine but I have three recurring codes: P0106 Manifold Absolute Pressure/BARO Sensor Range/Performance P0175 System Too Rich (Bank 2) C0561-71 Actuator Stuck I'm assuming the third code is because stabilitrak is disabled from the first two codes. I haven't found any vacuum or exhaust leaks yet. Long term fuel trims are around -25%. MAP data seems to look OK although the ECM thinks it is out of range. Does anything stand out in the attached log file, or are there any other parameters I should log to track this down? 1GCR7182_20211001_2.hpl
  2. So the OE ball joint is meant to be crimped down onto the control arm instead of using a snap ring. I'm just going to get a different set with snap rings, and if they are still loose then I will have to get a new control arm.
  3. 2011 Silverado 1500 4x4, cast iron lower control arms. The old ball joint was some kind of non-OE with a grease fitting and a snap ring on the top. The new GM ball joints (19209396) did not come with snap rings. They also basically dropped in with a whack from a hammer, did not need to be pressed in. Do the OE lower ball joints use a snap ring, and do I need to replace the control arm if the new joint goes in so easily?
  4. Both issues are still present after switching to new tires and wheels. Are you saying the low speed vibration is or is not AFM related?
  5. I've also noticed when I cold start and shift from park to drive the truck tends to lurch forward slightly, unless I'm firmly pressing the brake pedal. Not sure if that's normal or a possible torque converter issue as well.
  6. There are two different vibration events that I'm trying to sort out on my 2011 1500 LTZ 5.3 4x4. Truck has 190,000 miles and has been well maintained following the factory service schedule. The first is when I apply very light throttle at 30-45 mph. The truck acts like it is lugging in 6th gear then it behaves fine once the transmission kicks down. Is this AFM related or a transmission issue? The second is more of a pulsating vibration at around 65 mph. The vibration comes and goes about once per second and doesn't seem noticeable above 70 mph. Not a constant vibration like what an unbalanced wheel feels like. Any advice?
  7. From what I could tell the truck was bought in CA, either sold or traded in, went to auction, then was bought by the current dealer in OH. Similar age and mileage trucks are maybe $1000 cheaper but they're all viciously rusted underneath, and some through the bodywork. Clean trucks command a good price in OH, for good reason.
  8. I'm trying to decide between two used trucks for mostly weekend use and occasional daily driving (commute is 15 miles round trip). No towing planned. Less than 5,000 miles per year total driving. I live in the salt belt. Candidate 1: 2003 Silverado 1500, DCSB, 5.3L 4x4. 160,000 miles, single owner, no accidents, CA truck aka zero rust. Very good service history on the Carfax. Candidate 2: 2008 Sierra 2500, DCSB, 6.6L Duramax 4x4. 220,000 miles, single owner, no accidents, MI truck. Bed is starting to rust over the rear wheels. Extremely good service history on the Carfax, lots of parts replaced over time. Both trucks are in the $10,000 range, which is my budget limit. I'm leaning toward the 1500 because it's rust free and probably a better fit for my needs. But the 2500 seems like a solid deal compared to other similar 2500 Duramax trucks, and the mileage doesn't scare me much after seeing the Carfax and based on what I've read about the LMM engine. I don't have a need for a 3/4 ton truck and certainly not such a strong engine, but I'm still interested in it for the deal, and because Duramax (kind of always wanted one). I'm concerned that the 2500 will be a lousy ride when unloaded or lightly loaded, which will be basically all the time for me. I'm also a little concerned about the higher running costs of the Duramax in general, but for how little miles I will put on it I'm not sure how big of an issue that is. Not overly concerned about the generational differences from GMT800 to GMT900 ie. interiors, overall feature levels. The 1500 is probably the logical choice, but the 2500 is tempting. What do you guys think?
