I tracked down and bought my first car I had when I was a teenager, a 97 z71 extended cab. Its in pretty rough shape. I bought a 96 z71 which is a near replica of mine to use to fix it up. However, the 97 is a lot worse than I was expecting and the 96 is in near perfect condition. Id at least like to keep something out of my first truck so I considered swapping the interiors. My 97 has blue interior and the 96 has tan. How big of a job would it be to swap the seats, center console, interior trim pieces, carpet and possibly headliner? The dash might be the biggest problem, the 97 has duel airbags and push button 4x4, would this dash even be compatible? I could probably find a blue 96 dash from a junk yard if not.

Just out of curiosity, about how much should it cost to repaint an extended cab truck with a quality paint job (not maaco or low quality jobs)?

When I was 16 my dad handed down his 97 Chevy z71 5.7L to me. I loved that truck but was an idiot and sold it a few years later. Luckily I was just able to track it down and rebought it. I’m going to try to fix it up. It’s actually in pretty good shape. Right now the biggest issue is the steering has a lot of play in it. About how big of a job is it to rectify steering play on these trucks?
