I have a 2013 Silverado RCSB. It's my daily driver and one of the things I've been wanting to do since I got it is upgrade the exhaust. I really like the Pypes SGT29V in terms of tone and looks. However, I've heard that running dual pipes straight out the back is a no no (something to do with the vacuum created while driving sucking exhaust fumes back into the cabin). I do plan on installing a sliding rear window in the truck, right now it's stationary.
Is this any kind of problem for our trucks? I know nowadays many trucks come from the factory with dual rear exit exhaust and sliding rear windows (my dad just bought a 2020 High Country Silverado with that very setup, SWEET truck) and I can't imagine it would be offered from the factory if it weren't safe. However, I know how the sliding rear glass tends to pull air from behind the cab in while driving, and how dirt, leaves, debris, etc. in the bed tend to gather up in the front of the bed while driving. But, I don't know if the exhaust would manage to come out of those rear pipes, climb all the way up the tailgate, into the bed area, and get sucked in through that back window. To me it seems a little far fetched (like maybe this is just an issue for station wagon and/or SUV-type vehicles with the back glass RIGHT above the exhaust tips) but I don't want to do any mods to my daily driver that would pose a health risk.
Any insight, opinions, experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated.
