Last year I decided to step away from the diesel world for a bit, and ended up getting a 2019 Silverado z71 LT. I then began researching performance parts for it and sadly discovered that GM has the ECU locked down tight. I would periodically check online to see if anything new had presented itself, but to no avail. Then HP Tuners managed to do something with the ECU, but that's about it.
Then the other night I was reading on here, and someone mentioned that if you have an early 2019 model, they still used the L83/6 speed combination from the 2018's, where the ECU isn't locked down and you can tune them.
I have been out of the GM gas engine scene for a while, so am not sure about anything. Lol
My question is, if I have a 5.3, with a 6 speed, does that mean that I lucked out and actually do have a tunable 5.3? I tried running my VIN to see if it actually had the engine's generation code, but it just says 5.3, as well as 6 speed auto. Is there anyway to verify what engine I actually have so I can either do something with it, or stop dreaming about it if not? ?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!
