Anderson cicle

So let me just start by saying I’m completely stumped. I was driving home a few weeks back from the feed store and out of nowhere I had 90 degrees of turning before the wheels turned. I made it home but it was a very terrifying drive. I spent some time under it and couldn’t find what was the matter. The bracket that connects the idler arm to the frame is what ended up broken. I’ve tried to weld it myself but it won’t weld for the life of me. I’m looking for any advice on the matter I’ve been using a mig welder and it welds just fine on other things but not on the truck.
