I have the tri-way running boards on the 2017 Sierra that fail to extend on the drivers side. This problem was brought to my dealer 10 months ago and they put a “bandaid”on it to make it last till my truck was out of warranty, (they replaced the hinge brackets instead of the failing motor). I believe the motor has been the issue all along in that the steps will extend down most of the time however they need assistance to extend to the tire, and they are incredibly slow to extend to the normal position. After getting the vehicle back from the dealership the boards work with the door, they work with the button in the truck but the kick step button on the actual board is out of sync or something. When I hit the driver side kick button it extends immediately out to the tire and skips over the door, the passenger side kick step won’t extend the board at all. Does anyone have any insight to what the dealership may have messed up that would cause this issue with the kick steps. I brought it back to the dealer and they told me to basically pound dirt and nothing they did when repairing the driver side brackets would cause problems with the passenger side. Any help would be appreciated.
