  1. 15' GMC 2500HD, 88K, started spitting up this error a few months ago. Been reading a lot about this in various forums...components include steering, wheel speed sensors, tranny, brakes, throttle peddle position sensor, brake peddle position sensor, on & on & on. From what I understand, it's just a generic code for many possibilities. I've done my homework for sure and still doing it....but had some time today to follow-up again. I even bought an Autel mk808bt scanner so I'm not afraid to find the problem at "reasonable" cost rather than let the dealer shot-gun parts at it with no results....as I've read. (Lots of expensive "no results" stories there!) The only code showing is C0710:5A which is "steering position signal not plausible". Read about the plug corrosion issue and the "do not replace until you do this first" articles too. I played around with that, no different results. I've also read horror stories from going into limp mode to just killing the motor at high speeds on a highway. Friggin crazy! My problem, lucky to say, is different than most I've read. The error just shows up randomly & goes away randomly maybe 1-2-3 time a day with no ill effect in the trucks performance at all. Nothing. (I have a service station maintenance truck and make many starts & stops daily) I recently had Pitman & Idler arms replaced and steering wheel is off center about 5-10 degree's to the left. However....the error had shown itself prior to that. Had tranny replace many months prior to the error also. I do understand the steering wheel position sensor is probably just an everyday potentiometer and may be worn down being that I live in the mountains in No Cal wine country. Straight roads around her are few & far in between. So thought to see if anyone has some experience with this scenario before I have to start shot-gunning parts at it myself. Thanks for your time, appreciated. Marty
