Ok I have one for you...06 Silverado 2500HD LBZ Duramax. Truck runs fine until towing up a long hill. 185 degree thermostats. Recently towed a small tractor up Snoqualimie Pass in Washington, 50 degrees OAT. Temperature starts climbing immediately at the slightest rise in grade. Truck runs ok until near the top....temp rising to 226 degrees...engine falters and almost shuts down. No response from the accelerator pedal and no response to manually shifting...will not shift gears. Pull off the road and wait 5 minutes, then back to semi normal. Thermostats are new, turbocharger is new, turbo vane controller new, transmission temp fine. Have installed a boost pump...lift pump...new high flow air filter, new dual filter oil pump, fuel filter bypass. Does anyone out there know anything about this..."survival" ..mode that the truck drops into..?? This has happened many times now....I also have a power chip on it...forgot the name of it...and its in the shop now. When i step on the gas in all but economy mode, you would think i was a Navy destroyer laying down a smoke screen for the fleet. Its just killing me...and my pocketbook.
