Hi,
I have a 2015 sierra 1500 with 60k miles. Its starting ticking and I took it to the dealer who wants 6k to check and replace the lifters. I have been researching the web and all the videos show when checking the lifter they first remove the valve cover and find the rocker arm flopping up and down making the tick sound. So I pulled the valve cover expecting to find the same result. I did not and all the rockers and related parts feel tight and appear to be in good working order.
So my question is... am I correct in my assumption that if a lifter fails the rocker will flop up and down? And if I'm wrong and I still have the ticking sound what do I check. I have random mis-fire codes, the coils seem to work too. Anybody have some ideas ?
Thanks
