GM has come out with a software change that allows you to lock out the upper half of the tailgate while towing. For those of us that have a 2020 model it would be nice if GM would step up to the plate and update the software on our trucks as well. This can be an expensive oops when it should of been addressed during the initial design.

I bought the trailer camera when I purchased the truck. The camera is installed on a 21 ft enclosed snowmobile trailer. It worked great for the first winter with one exception, every time I pulled up the trailer profile the system would not recognize the electric trailer brakes. It did however control the brakes. In April of 2021 when the season ended I took it to the dealer and they said it just needed to be reflashed in order to recognize the brakes. Well I still have the error message about the brakes and now with every key cycle the camera requires re-calibration. It has been to the dealer numerous times, the supplier worked on it twice, and GM engineering has worked on two or three times now. Even though the system states the calibration was successful and the camera works, once the key has been cycled off and then back on, the camera requires calibration again. I need help.

I have a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali with the invisible trailer camera. It worked flawlessly the first winter. However, every time the trailer was hooked up I would get a message stating that the system did not recognize the electric brakes yet the system controlled the electric brakes. In the spring of 2021 I took it to the dealer and they said it required a software reflash. Ever since then I have to recalibrate the trailer camera every time the ignition is turned off and then back on. It has been to the dealer at least six times. GM engineers have worked on it 3 times and one time they brought the supplier with them. Several weeks and several modules later it still does not work correctly. Once the calibration is complete it does not write to memory so it can be recalled the next time the ignition is cycled. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have a 2020 GMC Sierra and I am also experiencing invisible camera issues. It worked fine the first 6 months. I took to the dealer in the spring of 21 because every time I connected the trailer the system did not recognize the electric brakes even though the electric brakes functioned as it is supposed to. The dealer reflashed the unit and the error message went away but after the reflash I am always having to recalibrate the camera every time the trailer is hooked up or if the truck is cycled off for refuel or pit stop. The most recent dealer visit they replace the video processing control module PN 84833405. It worked for 3 days and stopped working. It is now back at the dealer for the fifth time.
