I have an 07.5 silverado 1500 with a 5.3 in it. Everytime I turn the key on the encoder motor tries to shift into a different gear. I have changed the encoder motor, the dash switch, and made sure the front actuator works. None of those seemed to have fixed the issue. It throws a C0398 DTC which when I google it everything says it could be virtually anything. I have looked through so many forums and articles but can't find anything so I'm posting here to hopefully get some help.

I have an 07.5 Silverado 1500 with a 5.3. The 4x4 went into neutral and would try to grind into gears when a coworker went to move it once at work. I messed around with it starting and stopping the engine until I got it into 4hi and drove it home. Since then everytime you turn the key on the encoder motor turns to shift the transfer case between 4hi, 4lo, and neutral. Very rarely the selector knob actually works so I can select what I want. I've searched dozens of forums, and have replaced the motor, selector knob, bled the battery memory, and checked every ground and wire on the truck. I don't want to end up paying a dealership possibly over $1000 just for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
