In my 21 Silverado or now my 25, I never ever have had an over the air update come through, and I do manually go into the radio and check for the updates, maybe once a month or so. For the no radio volume and turn signal noise, they told me they had to use the scan tool and preform the update, which took several hours. For the Google Maps update, the service advisor did that one outside in the parking lot, which did take quite a while as I am an Iphone user so I had to download the Google email app, create an account, and then go through with the updates by logging into my radio.

I had this happen several times on my truck. Tried the reset/reboot with the steering wheel button and still lost audio and turn signal sound. Took the truck into the dealer, they did a software update on the radio and now it has worked ever since. Also built in Google Maps would shut down several times on a 1 hour trip, since the software update Google Maps has worked good as well.

Boy GM is confused then. Even my dealer thinks it should have the rumble seat. Makes sense that they save some of these options for higher trims, but make sure your advertising is accurate on the website. Not a huge deal, I just thought if it is supposed to be there it should work.

The GM literature online when you “build and price” my truck shows the rst comes with the safety seat. I forget the exact option code the service manager told me it was but I believe it started with a “B”. Like I said, he told me according to my trucks build sheet it has the safety seat.

Rst. I was at the dealer today because they had to install the large Chevrolet decal on the tailgate and they checked my vin and it definitely has the safety alert seat. I am just looking in the truck. The owners manual says in the “comfort and convenience section” only has chime volume option. Under the “collision/detection” section all settings are either on or set to alert and brake.

I looked in that area of the settings, my truck has nothing about the seat.

Just bought new 2025 Silverado and with the safety package it is supposed to have the safety alert seat, dealer did verify that my truck does show specifically that it has the option. Anyone know under what circumstances the seat will vibrate, I would have thought parking with the park sensors beeping either front or rear the seat should vibrate, dealer thought only if the truck is detecting a side collision possibility that it will vibrate. Today I was changing lanes to make a turn into a turning lane with the current forward lane stopped at a red light and the forward collision alert warned me of a collision, but no seat rumble. I just thought that these scenarios should rumble the seat.

I switched mine over to the 0W40, my reasoning is since the 6.2 engine in the Camaros and Corvettes are using the 40 weight, and the truck engines use the same bearings. Also GM is using the 40 weight for this recall. Mobil 1 makes a 0W30 Dexos approved oil that a guy could use, as well the 5W30 is used in Europe in these engines so I don't think you can really go wrong with any oil you use, I just don't feel comfortable with the 20 weight.

So my truck engine not in the recall, bwoodsmn's engine not in the recall, both blew up, and I know one guy with a 5.3 that the bottom end went out at 100,000 miles, GM has a big problem on their hands with their engines going out way above this current recall which is only for the 6.2s. Maybe the percentage of vehicles giving trouble is low, but....

If there is any engine builders to comment, as well though they would rebuild the cylinder heads. On my engine it was just the center thrust bearing that went bad, the other crank bearings looked like new. So I don’t know, I would think that mine would be able to be used. But I am not an engine builder. I am just going by what the dealer told me that my “new” engine is a rebuilt engine. I just went on a 750 mile trip this weekend and the truck ran perfect.

I was told unless the engine block has a big hole in the side they can rebuild all of them.

This is exactly what the service manager told me they do. They rebuild engines for warranty replacements. I did not get a brand new engine under warranty. Only assembly line new vehicles get new engines. About a month ago the dealer told me GM had 22 6.2 engines in stock in Michigan.

Just got my truck back from the dealer. They did install all new injectors and they had to re-seal the oil pan. Said that the silicone at the rear of the engine was too thinly applied. They put on about 60 miles test driving it, then they took pictures and it does look dry now. Also, I was told that what they call “service” replacement engines are remanufactured and NOT brand new. So only factory assembly line vehicles get new engines.

Now I noticed oil on my garage floor. Had it in for the injectors anyway and they said the oil pan is leaking oil.

Going in on Wednesday for sure for the injectors. The dealer is checking with GM if they will approve wires.

Nope it seams to be good other than the misfires. The detail cleaning job though inside and out was phenomenal. The truck hasn’t been this clean in years

The dealer did take my oil pan off and confirmed that the thrust bearing was no good. So kudos to the GM engineer who diagnosed that bearing just from a recording. But for GM engineers to investigate and claim only the certain vin ranges of 6.2 engines should have crank bearing problems as mine was built several months before the recall range, they obviously have a bigger problem Would be interesting to see the percentage of engines so far that have blown that are outside of the range of recalls. I just thought since they are now doing injectors and everything else is new how about some new wires as it is possible they could cause a miss fire as well. Also the truck misfired as I was driving away from the dealership from picking it up, which was at the end of the day.

Nope. No injectors, spark plugs, spark plug wires or intake manifold, etc. Supposedly only items are installed on the engine which seals oil. I am trying to get them to install new spark plug wires as well.

The dealer says that for the missfire they are going to install all new fuel injectors. I believe they only go by truck build date for recalls

Just got my truck back from the dealer yesterday with the new engine installed and today the truck is back at the dealer because the engine is miss firing. They did give me a brand new diesel to drive today

The engine actually had to me what sounded like the belt squealing when the engine was cold. As the engine warmed up the noise gradually went away. Full operating temps you would have never known it had a problem. No knocking, no drivability issues. I myself put a new belt on, no change in noise. I took the truck to the dealer and they changed the water pump under warranty. They said that the water pump was leaking and dripping on the A/C belt. Even though I never had to add coolant, never saw the coolant leak when I changed the belt, and also I always check my fluids on a regular basis. No change in noise with new water pump. With the main belt off of the engine the noise went away. The dealer had to phone their tech line and the engineer did think that it was the thrust bearing making that noise. But GM would not authorize an engine replacement until the dealer took the oil pan off to inspect inside the engine. Well, I never made it to that appointment as I was driving one day and the truck started to buck and jerk, it really banged hard at each jerk. My truck has only been down about 2 weeks.

I did a factory order of my truck in October of 2020 and it arrived at the dealer end of January 2021. So my 21 model year 6.2 falls before the recall vin range. My engine just blew up at 38000 miles. Dealer took the oil pan off and said it was the thrust bearing that went wrong. Still under the power train warranty they did rent me a truck to drive and my truck is supposed to be finished this week. The dealer did phone GM and was told to only use the 0W20 oil in my new engine. I did phone the GM customer care line just to say that they have engines blowing up outside the range of vehicles recalled. The service manager told me that GM does not check what oil was used in the engine, what they do look at is how clean the engine looks inside as to frequency of service the engine might have had. My engine looked brand new inside other than the one bearing.

I have a 21 Silverado 6.2 and my engine just blew up at 38000miles/61000kms. It has been chirping like a belt squeal for the last 2 months, and the GM dealer had to phone their help line to try and figure out that it might be the thrust bearing on the crankshaft. But then this last weekend the engine started to knock and miss-fire. They told me GM has lots of stock of the engine in Michigan, I live in Canada so shipping time is about 1 week to get here. I have been looking at buying a new truck, but i would be interested if the 25 model year is an upgraded engine as well. If not i guess i go for the diesel this time
