  1. My truck just hit 30,000 miles and there's been a noticeable gouge in the rear rotor for the last 10,000 miles. I just assumed it was a defective pad or something. At my last oil change, they told me my rear pads were getting pretty low. I did get a "New brake pads detected" notification over the winter, I figured it was just the cold temps or something. A week ago, I got a check brake wear sensor warning, and just yesterday it changed to "Rear brake pads are very low" or something like that. Well it's in the shop now getting rear brakes done, but I hope the new rotors don't get gouged too, because of some sensor, I don't want to go through this again. Brakes should last more than 30,000 miles IMO. I don't tow, and almost never haul anything. I just use it to throw my MTB in when I want to get to the trail, so it's light duty for sure, other than mostly city driving. I'm getting OEM AC Delco brakes installed. The mechanic sent me pictures of the fronts, and the inner pads are worn more than the outers, but there's plenty of pad left so I'm leaving them as is for now. I'll have to take a look at that sensor. Don't want it to gouge my new rotors too.
  2. Ok, I did a 2" Rough Country spacer lift in front, and a Supreme Suspensions 1.5" Block lift in the back. Got my Husky mud flaps mounted, installed a K&N intake that preserves the factory airbox, installed a Flowmaster Super 40, installed Fox 2.0 Performance series shocks in the rear, got an oil change, wheel alignment, cabin air filter, and installed Fog lights. Wheel well liners, body color mirror caps, red tow hooks, tires, new speakers, a camper cap and a Bed Rug are coming next. What 17" A/T tires should I get now? Assuming lots of highway miles to get to some National Parks, and light backroads when I'm there. 265/275/285?
  3. I spent a few hours yesterday washing White Lightning. (Because she's quick!) I've got a blown disc in my back, and a partially torn rotator cuff, but my old detailing ways got the best of me today, so I broke out the clay bar, the Jetseal 109, wheel wash, vinyl dressing, ect and gave her the full treatment. All the tar and little orange rail dust spots are gone, and she'll be beading up water for some time to come. So, I took her out for a photoshoot in medium format digital. Soon to be a road-going photography machine to take me out there.
  4. My 2019 Silverado W/T has this same issue, ever since I got it. Sometimes the screen randomly goes black. Sometimes the volume goes up really loud for a fraction of a second, then comes back down. Sometimes the touchscreen freezes, and you can't do anything. (Though the hard buttons still work) Sometimes the radio stays on after turning the car off and opening the door. I see, apparently everyone is having this problem. I knew it wasn't the hardware, because anyone who's got it swapped out continues to have the problem. Is there a solid solution yet? I've only got 20K miles on my truck now and have been dealing with this for 3 years. Never seen this in my life. I have to chuckle when people say the dealer never heard of this, when literally everyone has the issue. LOL. And here I actually bought the Silverado, because it had a decent size screen in the work truck trim. I had a bigger 8" screen in my cheap little Buick Encore and it never had an issue like this. Not a blip. Does Alpine make a unit that'll drop in? Does GM step up and do something for us?
  5. Check this sick beast out, so far I got an exhaust tip, and a shorty antenna, haha. J/K (Antenna installed after this pic) This is my 2019 2wd Silverado W/T with the "Custom" bodycolor grill parts, 8ft bed, and alloys that U-Haul orders, and the 5.3L V8 with the tow package and 3.42 rear end. I got this with 7,800 abusive miles on it, and some light hail damage from U-Haul AZ. Now she's up here in the rust belt of the midwest, getting a lot of Fluid Film to buy us some time. Soon to be an overlander with lifted/leveled 2" or so, 33" AT tires, wheel well liners, rear locker, tow hooks, mud flaps, fog lights, side steps, a high-rise cap with a bed, refrigerator, computer desk, ventilation fan, and solar battery system to keep everything powered. Gonna take her across the country, mostly on the road, with some light backroads, and live out of the back. Plan to hit Planet Fitness for showers. I want it to be a fuel-efficient home base for extended photography trips. Right now I can eek out 24mpg on the highway. Hopefully the mods don't take away too much mpg.
