  1. OP SAID: I got the high temp AC turned off warning. It started right when I started the engine. Didn't even get a chance to warm up. I have had the same, exact experience with my 2013 Silverado 1500 WT 5.3L V8. Temp gauge has stopped working. Engine, even with continued running/driving, does NOT overheat. How do I clear the warning? It has been suggested elsewhere that I leave the battery disconnected for an hour to clear the warning.
  2. $81.19 for oil/filter/lube/tire rotation.
  3. You are correct, the ad blocker was preventing me from accessing the Log Out button. Thanks, but I do not know that all the disturbing ads are worth being able to click on the Log Out button?
  4. If there are any admins here who do give a damn, they have failed to contact me? As for Following filters I do no see a "content posted in areas I follow: option. Here is what I see - Follow 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 1500 Send me: A notification and an email when new content is posted Change how the notification is sent One email per day with all new content from that day One email per week with all new content from that week o Do not send me any notifications o Let others see that I follow this Update preferences Unfollow
  5. I am aware of the upper right corner button containing my name. I would expect clicking on it to give me a drop down menu with a log off option; as is the case with most fora. However, clicking on the name button here yields no result whatsoever. Nor am I ever asked to login when accessing this site. Instead I get this- My notification info (bell) contains this: Low Elevation posted a topic 2019-2025 Silverado & Sierra: Removing yellow paint scuff on rim 3 hours ago Jworks quoted you in a topic: Forum Navigation 5 hours ago mike9087 posted a topic 2019-2025 Silverado & Sierra: 2020 GMC 1500 AT4 Smells like clutch burning the last 5-10 miles while in 4wd 5 hours ago Haufski762 posted a topic 2019-2025 Silverado & Sierra: Winter Front Wednesday at 09:59 AM Dave Y -
  6. I am fairly competent when it comes to accessing online fora. However, this site has me scratching my head and I need help, understanding and/or advice. FIRST - I have left msgs for the forum administrators, and have not received a single response. Why not? Are there any active forum administrators? How may they be contacted? SECOND - When I select the 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 1500 forum and request to be shown Unread Content, I get posts form any and all available fora on the site; e.g., 2024 Duramax. What is this about? Is there a way to read only new posts in the 1999-2013 Silverado & Sierra 1500 forum (and sub-fora)? THIRD - I have no means of logging off the site when I have finished reading/posting. Clicking on the LOG OFF button does absolutely nothing! How does one log off when done? At least for me, navigating here is not straight foward, simple, intuitive or convenient. If I am doing something wrong, please tell me what. If it matters, my computer OS is Win10; though that should not make a difference. I would really appreciate any guidance that can be offered. Thanks!
  7. While a kill switch is certainly a good idea, I don't see how it offers any protection against the bad guy damaging your truck to gain access? Dave Y - 2013 Silverado 1500
  8. Truck a 2013 Silverado 1500 WT 5.3L V8 Flex Fuel 4WD Long Bed - No key fob. Only an ignition key - I have the alarm. It has two wire connections: Power and Ground, Everything I have read says if tapping into a reverse light the alarm will sound when the the ignition is turned off, as dong so causes the lights to turn on/remain on for a period of time. gmupfitter.com provides a work around by installing a relay in the circuit (see attachment). I must admit I have never been able to wrap my head around the "how to wire a relay ". Any wizards out there who can tell me what wires to connect from the IGN to what numbered terminal on the relay and from what numbered terminal on the relay to the backup alarm? I would appreciate some guidance on this. Thanks! Dave Y -
  9. 2013 Chev Silverado 1500 WT 5.3L V8 Flex Fuel 4WD Reg Cab Long Bed Taking my "new to me" truck in for oil/filter change, lube and tire rotation. Question is about lube. Everything I have come across online points to lube points/grease fittings only on the tie rod ends. Some sources indicate on trucks with a sliding drive shaft joint there also may be a third lube point/ grease fitting. Would my truck having a sliding drive shaft coupling requiring lube? Are there other lube points/grease fitting locations I have not found out about? Dave Y -
  10. lanf, well that changes the picture, I shall have to investigate this further. What is the part # for the needed connectors, and may I find a pic of them online anywhere?
  11. Thanks for sharing this bit of info. I presume (my bad, I know) you are referring to the MBEC junction block? While I am certain that would in fact work, and is the preferred/professional way to hard wire the after market compass, it does seem a bit of overkill to me. The MBEC costs $40. Once acquired it has to be modified by removing the single wire lead installed. One has to then purchase necessary connectors to complete the wiring task. Much simpler and just as functional would be to utilize a fuse tap on an existing circuit which is hot only when the engine is ON/Running. Surely there must be such a circuit. That is what I am trying to identify.
  12. A newbie here. New to Chevy trucks. Now own a, new to me, 2013 Chev Silverado 1500 WT 5.3L V8 Flex Fuel 4x4 Reg Cab Long Bed with 128K on the odometer. The money pit I traded in (Ford F250 XLT Ext Cab Long Bed) had 146K miles on the odometer. During my tenure of ownership it managed, barely, to get all off 6 mpg! Glad I found this forum and glad to be here.
  13. I have a 2013 Silverado 1500 WT 5.3L V8 Flex Fuel 4WD. I would like to install an aftermarket compass. To do so I need to locate a fuse, be it under the hood or in the side panel, that is hot ONLY when the engine is running. Anyone able to guide to such a fuse location, be it an unused slot or one which I can tap into? Thanks -
